I haven't played 2k baseball since 2k7 and the demos never gave us the full options menu so I really have no idea how the full retail versions play.
Ummm, if I had to estimate it...I would say anywhere between 20 and 40 minutes, depending on how the game is going and how much scoring there is.

If you are preloading every throw while on the move like it was easy to in 2k11, then this new system will kick your butt.
I'll agree that Pitching feels just as smooth on hard as it does on medium but the fielding does not.

my reason for this is that pitching has a "ramp-up" while a fielded throw does not. you can feel the "ramp-up" and it changes for every pitcher based on motion and pitching from windup or from stretch.

however when loading and preloading a fielded throw you don't have a "ramp-up" to the throw, it is like trying to start & stop a stopwatch with changing sweet spots. so you cannot get a feel for throw, you just have to assume that "ok, I'm fielding the ball on the run so I'll probably have a small sweet spot even though it is Golden Glover Beltre sooo start/stop!"

if there was a ramp up where you could actually load your throw it would help even if you had smaller sweet spots for an errorless throw.

on hard I committed an average of 2 errors a game and they tended to be on routine grounders with a set throw but I missed the sliver of a sweet spot so the throw went sailing into the dugout... I'd lose the games 1-0 with maybe 1 or 2 hits against me but 2+ errors and no earned runs.

Beltre is a top 3 third baseman, he was extraordinary for the Rangers last year and there is no way that his sweet spot would be that small even while fielding a ball to either side of his body.

there was a game that I mentioned earlier that did have "ramp-up" fielded throws and it was easier to understand when you made a bad throw even on the hardest settings but I'm not comparing the two games.

on the plus side, the amount of throwing errors from missing the green on throws should be easily adjustable via sliders (assuming they work of course lol)

Re: MLB 2K12 Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here

I really like the presentation per usual. I know the character models may not be as detailed or lifelike as they could be, but the presentation gives me that feeling of playing or watching an actual baseball game. It feels realistic to me. The character models are more impressive this year. The pitcher batter duels are also really well done. The camera angles you get when fielding are also very tv broadcast like.

It's not a huge difference from last year but overall it plays smoother and the overlays look nicer. It's just more a natural progression.

Still a bit choppy on foul balls though and when the ball comes off the bat. And the ball physics with the ground and some of the animations still don't really jive. For example those same canned animations at the plate, or no animation at all on scoring plays leaves teh game feeling lifeless sometimes. Those crowd animations on foul balls also need to go. Also where are the vendors?

But 2k does a nice job here. The graphics are improved. Still can feel a bit robotic at times and animations can speed up unnaturally on missed swings or still look somewhat floaty and not sync naturally especially when fielding, but overall 2k is getting really close.

I think 2k has done away with most of the canned dead looking stuff but it's still there. The game seems to flow and sync that much better.

This game is such a tease because I really feel it could be the best baseball game going, I'd even say at its core it is the best baseball game going, but its always a year away and ironing out those little details. This year I really feel its a year away but is still pretty great at least.

I disagree with those saying there is nothing wow about the demo. PLay it a few times. The game is pretty great and really impressive on a lot of levels. I think it's a game that needs to be played to really appreciate it. Not just looked at and judged at face value.

There are some serious issues with baserunning in the demo but I'm assuming this will be fixed in the retail version.

Dl'ed it this morn, was well worth the price of admission.
If you love baseball & don't own a PS3, then this game is a must have.
I'll get my copy upon the first price drop.

If only I could get 2K's Busch Stadium and Downtown St. Louis into the Show. Then I would be truly happy.
