Again a reaffirmation as to why online gaming has ruined gaming.

The core single player experience is gone and now favored on quick one off quick plays when the main game should have more core substance

That said

IGN has given SSX a 9.0

Guess if your not a rpg game, a crazy military online shooter you cant get anything above that huh?

I look forward to Tuesday Online or off I will enjoy because I'm used to imperfection nowadays...
Maybe I'm not reading into this properly, but you seem to be contradicting yourself.

You complain about online gaming ruining core gaming (for what it's worth, I agree), but you complain about RPG's getting high scores. RPG's rarely ever have a multiplayer component, and if they do, it's usually very basic (like Mass Effect 3's co-op mode).

I think his point was that IGN will write a rave review about a sports game and give it an 8, then review a big name rpg and use phrases like "tried and true formula" or other language that might seem a bit lukewarm but the score will be >9.

and by casual i dont mean a person(s) who only play games as his/her time permits.

2 me this isnt a valid point because many a games should have never lose the feature in the 1st place. Regardless of how it applies to anyone personally, i think its pretty self evident that games like SSX and Pure should have local multiplayer. I dont see any arguements the other way.

It would be like if a game like madden at some point in the future didnt give gamers the ability to play head to head offline. We'd all agree that that would be a pretty stupid ommision...same thing here.

there was a point in my life that i honestly thought when i would be 50 id be busting my kids kids butts in gaming or atleast that i'd still enjoy the passion to share in the experience with them.

now i can see a future in which i know longer even game at all. and thats sad because i love getting down on the sticks.

i played the demo and hated that "auto-correct" crap on the landing. no challenge, no skill required. just like every other game out there - they made it easier...God forbid someone should fail and have hurt feelings...boo hoo. the control also felt pretty sloppy and i didn't really feel like i could control where my character went. fun for a few minutes, but after that the automated feel and repetitiveness becomes too much.

I logged on here just to say the same exact thing. The original SSX game was awesome because you made a mistake you paid for it and you wiped out. The challenge isn't there and this disconnects you from the boarder and the controls. It is ridiculous really. I landed on my head and did a roll to land perfectly and went on probably losing just a split second on my run.

I landed with the board head PERPENDICULAR to the ground and landed perfectly and got major boost points. I understand making it accessible, but it's just too much. If everything is too easy to land, the fun factor of landing a crazy jump/trick is almost gone if not gone altogether. The risk/reward of past SSX games also goes out the door. I'm behind in this race and I need a boost, should I risk this huge trick? I remember going over those scenarios in past SSX games. This game, I see a place to trick, I go for it with reckless abandon.

I know the game is arcade, the old SSX games were pure arcade but the challenge made things worthwhile. I hope this "auto-correct" can be disabled somehow, because it just takes away the essence of SSX imo.

Nothing like a good video to show just how difficult they made the game...

Whats the point?

Get some friends and have fun competing against their times/scores.

As a skier/snowboarder their whole life, this game is a must own because it is fun in the fact that it gives you that racing down the mountain feel.

Granted its not realistic, but that is not the point. The point is, it's FUN.
