This was an addition I never expected to have and once it was promised expectations were raised that they themselves created. 2k was just way too ambitious this year which resulted in a lack of focus in some areas of the game. If you are talking about something different I apologize. Maybe it's just safe to blame the lockout for the poor execution on some of their promises...
Yeah, the lockout had a bigger impact on 2K12 than I think we expected. Although, that still doesn't excuse the hard-coded issues that are in the game like over-aggressive guards, lack of control when playing D and the lack of CPU double-teams.

Maybe in hindsight 2K would've been better served to have gone all-in with Classic Rosters (have the current teams set to 2010-11 end of year rosters) and drop that as the main game and then, once the Lockout was settled, take 2 months to really nail down the rosters and release a GOTY edition at the All-Star Break that featured all of the Classic Teams and the updated 2011-12 rosters.

But then, do you charge the Day One buyers for the roster update? It's an interesting question. Ten bucks may be a bit steep; maybe 3-5 bucks for the initial update and then subsequent updates are free of charge.

I could care less about the price drop or the add-on's...but if you're going to spend time marketing and producing a product, fix the one that's already out there. There's more bugs and glitches in NBA 2K12 than were in Windows ME. It's a slap in the face to those of us who spent our $60 and get a seriously flawed product.

It's just a bad PR move. Like was mentioned earlier in the thread, if the GOTY was $40 and DLC stayed at $10 I wouldn't be upset with this news at all.

You're comparing apples to oranges by comparing TVs to videogames. Also, no one is asking for a refund. No one is even really asking for the DLC to be free, (other than me because it just seems fair) they are just voicing their displeasure with this news. Which I think is perfectly valid and so should you. Just because companies do this consumers doesn't mean you should just sit back and take it and be happy. That's a bad precedent to start.
It's not apples and oranges, it's the way all companies are run today, once a products sales have reached there peak a company has to now try to get rid of their remaining stock so they drop the price the offer a cheap add on with the purchase, we see it with CPU's buy this get a free printer, 2k is just doing the same, this is the future of gaming get use to it.

PS : stores don't offer price guarantees 3-4 months later most you will get is 1-2 weeks

You do know the Marketing team and the game developers are not the same, and it's not about spending money to fix 2k12 is about time available, we are almost in March, 2k13 is coming out a little over 7 months from now, so what should their priority be at this time.

Actually I did read your post that is what I responded to. Like Da Czar and the real 2kinsider were talking about on Friday this is a standard business move in the "Real World" and the only people who dont get it are people who have yet to enter it, when you buy something you buy it for what it is worth today (unless it is a collectable) not what it will be worth days ,weeks, and months from now, that will only drive you crazy.

I bought the game on day one and have for the most part enjoyed it. The online was pretty crappy for awhile, but I used that time to enjoy My Player.

I don't think 2K "owes" me anything. I do however believe that 2K has just made it clear to me that in the future I would be better off waiting a few months so I can get the game cheaper, with bonus content, and all the bugs worked out.

I don't blame them for doing this, it is just business but they have taken away any incentive I had to stand in line and buy their game on release day in the future.

You are right cras but what you are failing to understand is that most people who are a little irritated with this do in fact live in the real world, they just don't like what 2k did. Them not ok with 2k's move doesn't mean they lack a grasp on reality. Some lack the ability to understand why some might be irritated and want to belittle that irritation with insults of delusion. People can understand the nature of business but not always agree with it right? Still happy I bought 2k12...
