I basically have given up playing online. I cant get any type of offense going due to my opponents running right to the LOS and tackling before anything. I do understand the type of game that it is, but I feel like I kinda wasted money on it now

You can reset their defense by calling an audible right before the play begins.

By the way, the least covered receiver is the one which is knocked down. If you have enough time to wait for him to pop back up, you'll at least get 15 yards a play on passing to that guy.

And, of course, do enough to make them change course. Do run plays (both with your QB and somebody in the backfield) until they stop doing what they're doing.

It's tough, I know... but it is the game, especially when user-controlled defense is incredibly flawed when it comes to batting down balls. Sometimes knocking them down at the LOS is all you can do.

I picked this up last week. My friends and I used to play the originals a ton. I've been having a blast with it, but I think that may be coming to an end already. After a couple of days things didn't seem right. I realized I had a couple older ones (2001 & 2003) for the Playstation, so I dusted them off for comparison. Once my eyes adjusted t the hideous PSX graphics I began to se the differences between the Midway and EA versions.

A couple of things really need to be tweaked if there is a patch or (more likely than a patch) a next version.

1) Line blocking. Defensive linemen in the new Blitz are pretty useless. In 2001 the CPU controlled DL would often break through and sack the QB quickly. In 2012 the only ones getting any pressure are the blitzers.

2) Tipping passes. It is very hard to jump to tip a pass in 2012. The ball physics also result in less passes being tipped and intercepted. Half of my INTs are due to a guy on the line picking it off 3 feet from the QB. The older versions have more tips and multiple touches downfield.

3) Too easy to beat the blitz. Partially due to item #1, it's pretty easy to avoid being sacked on a blitz. Not only that, there isn't the same risk to quickly chucking it up while under pressure. There is almost no consequence to this in 2012.

It's still a very fun game that is pretty true to the originals. If they tweak the gameplay and add some depth for the single player I'd buy it again. It was worth the $15, although I was hoping for a little more.
