Which will lead to more walks and users having to throw across the plate more.

Do we make the hitting the sweet spot harder and in return if you do the pitch goes exactly where you put it. Or do we take into account the pitchers ratings especially overall confidence and control of that pitch and give you bonuses and penalties regardless of where your input is on the meter?

Is there a right or wrong answer............................not really it's all a matter of balance, perception, and fun factor. Anyway I'm sure you will find a challenge using one of the 5 pitching options and one of the 5 difficulty settings.
Good to know and an excellent point in balancing realism with fun factor.

In you guys I trust.

Re: MLB 12 The Show Videos - Zone Analog Batting and Pulse Pitching

I love classic pitching, so I'm intrigued by pulse...

My concern from the video is that because you end up throwing well over a hundred pitches per game, staring at the pulse meter that hard for that long will give me a headache / twitch...

ZAB looks like a great option for many, but once again, this title can be a challenge due to the fact that you're making and taking a few hundred pitches a game...

I tend to "keep it simple" when running this 2 hour, intense focus marathon...

That being said, the SCEA team is still the "Best in Show", IMHO...

Cool options...

If you pitch from the outfield, pitcher or broadcast cam pulse is a lot more tolerable through the course of a whole game. It is not so in your face like it is from the catcher cam. Actually surprised we have not seen any shots from that perspective yet.

Re: MLB 12 The Show Videos - Zone Analog Batting and Pulse Pitching

I'm not much of a Classic Pitching guy, but I actually think I'm going to give Pulse Pitching a shot this year. I don't have a problem with the idea of lettings the pitcher's ratings control the game, but there's not much challenge or fun in just simply pressing X for every pitch, with none of the challenge passed on to the user.

The more I think about it, the more I feel like Pulse Pitching might just be the perfect balance for me. It seems to have just enough user input to keep me interested, while still placing most of the power in ths hands of the ratings.

I agree though, controlling pitch effort (speed) would be nice. Maybe instead of only pressing X during the pulse thing, allow us to press and hold it for a max effort pitch?

I think we are only seeing the first phase of pulse pitching. It sounded like they wanted to get it introduced, get feedback after using it and then developing it further based on feedback. I think we will see the speed/effort implemented into this mechanic just like all the other pitching options have as well.

I actually take Classic pitching to be a strategy game of calling pitches. Pitch selection, where to locate it... because it matters. In that sense it isn't as boring as it sound.

Yeah, I always use the pitcher cam...

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this title...but it is (for me) the most draining of all the sports games I play simply because of the nature of the sport it portrays...

There's like 125-135 plays in football, almost 200 in an NBA game (less in CHoops) but there's 300 plus in baseball...or there abouts...

I'm going to give it a shot, but that's my initial take...looks like something that can induce the kind of thing that my PS3 "warns" me about when I fire it up...

Plus, well...I'm getting kind of old...

I thought it would be boring a few years back when I made the change (2006 or so)...

I love it because you can't override ratings with meter skill...

I got waaaaay to good at the meter, really quick...

For me, it really brings out the difference in pitchers...

After a solid 6-7 inning outing with a solid starter, you bring in the middle relievers and HOPE all heck doesn't break loose until you can get to your 8th / 9th guys...

Loves it!

I understand 100%. I would never expect a new feature to come with every conceivable compliment or option during its first year of existence, nor would I be bothered by its absence. They are definitely doing this in the most logical way, I was just throwing in my 2 cents.
