Just beat some guy who was 14 - 0. He was pissed.
Was the onside kick part of your strategy in that game?

Eh, sorta. I had 0:47 left in the first half after having scored, and I was up by 7. I figured even if I kicked it off to him, either he was going to score or turn it over anyway, so I might as well try and onside kick to get the ball back early on, and if I didn't, hopefully I could turn it over with maybe 0:25 left or so.

Anyway, I failed to converge with the onside kick, but forced him to fumble and turned it over. I was left with a 4th and Goal on the 47 and decided to kick. Thankfully I timed it right with my eyes closed haha. That ten point advantage was seemingly huge for me going into the half.

The thing with this guy was that he had a gameplan which he didn't want to deviate from, and I lucked out a bit hitting his backfield receivers when they were off-screen (that was his gameplan basically, calling plays like Spider and Sub-Zero and hitting the guy who I couldn't see), causing two fumbles and having a diving user pick.

I've also taken advantage of the lateral a little bit (though it can be fatal too haha), and the JUKE. I swear, if you haven't tried it before, this is the move to use when you're going head to head on a user-controlled defender and he's diving at you. It's not fumble-inducing and your guy just seems to react appropriately.

I think I ended up winning by 17, but it could've been a 3-point game very easily. Maybe I won by 10, can't remember.

I can't stop the play where they pitch or hand off to the back and he throws it downfield or runs.

Split backs?

Easiest way is to take out their downfield man once the play starts. It immediately eliminates the pass and forces the run. You might not be able to get both guys at once, but at least you've forced them to do one and only one.

If you get the QB before that, it won't matter anyway.

Onside kicks are not worth it IMO unless you're absolutely desperate. I've only recovered one in the 20 or so times I've tried.

You can also return onside kicks for TDs pretty easily if you just reverse field and use your blockers to sprint up the opposite sideline.

One guy tried to onside kick me twice in a row, and I took them both back to the house. He stopped after that lol

I'd only use them if I had to get the ball back to have any chance of winning.
