Could aspects be better? Of course. But I don't see how it's as terrible as some of you say; I'd say it's no where near that. While it can be frustrating at times, it's also the best basketball experience I've had. I hated 2K10 online with the cherry picking. I couldn't get into 2K11 online much because of people and their overly effective junk/hybrid zone defenses. And there are things in 2K12 that people do that can frustrate. But imo 2K has done what's expected, and improved/built on the experience each year. If you want to hit me up for a game feel free, because I'm not all that good and I haven't had people driving unabated to the hoop constantly.
i never said the game was bad. 2k12 is a good game...there are just a few glaring issues that need to be worked on that's all. just because i point out those issues, it doesn't mean i think the game is bad.

I hate this game...I just turned it off in disgust. The CPU is utterly invincible. While Im burning the shot clock, praying that my players will actually execute a set play, the CPU is paint pounding, and converting all kinds of step through lay ups, over my entirte front court.

I apologize, I was lumping your comments with people that commented before you. To your comments about the game favoring offensive players... I'm not a basketball expert but it's my understanding rules in most contact sports have changed over the years to favor the offense (football, basketball, and hockey). I still say the contact/bumping you noted in your post is actually in the game. Imo the "bump complainers" you reference last year were right - the contact that was occurring would be a foul in real life. But with this being a videogame, certain allowances have to be considered so things aren't completely unbalanced. It is difficult to play on-ball defense against a person that's even mildly competent with isomotion. But I imo effective defense can be accomplished with a mix of playing some on-ball, some off-ball, and allowing the game's improved help/rotations on defense to do what it does. Last year one of the big complaints was defensive rotations. They address it, and one of the complaints early on this year was they didn't want players rotating/wanted them to stay on their man.

Either way I don't think defense is completely out of whack. In the games I've played online I don't think I've had one where either team shot above 50% post-patch - even in real life you're going to have a night where a team shoots lights out. I do agree and have said offensive charging isn't called enough in the game. But it's not to the point where I see anything close to 3-second mario running or things of that sort. Absent a true physics system I think the game does a fairly good job at representing contact, having fouls called, etc. Certain types of dribble penetration in real life might not occur in real life against a bigger/more sizeable player but again, I think certain allowances have to be made with this being a videogame. Without those allowances, players that care only to win wouldn't allow any penetration and make the game one-track minded imo.

No offense but I'd have two suggestions:

1.) Play on a skill level that's more manageable for you. Pre-patch the game noticeably overcompensated/cheated at times on the higher difficulty levels. I couldn't stand playing the game above Pro. Post-patch I've been able to play full games on All-Star and Superstar. Usually losing especially on Superstar, but at least I don't feel cheated. I can't speak to Hall of Fame because I've never tried that level. Either way the patch did address some of the blatant cheating that would occur.

2.) Turn Playvision to FULL. Czar mentioned in one of his early vids that with the new playcalling system people should turn this on until they familarize themselves with the playbooks. I didn't do it initially, but once I did I noticed I was the person causing play breakdowns and would cause the offense to stop/reset/run something else. I'm to the point where I prefer full Playvision On. I let the cpu call plays and I just run them - my game improved immensely once I got a better understanding of what should be going on, instead of me freestyling thinking I knew what was going on

Re: NBA 2K12 Patch 1.04 Available Now - Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)

Hey guys. I just had a quick question after reading through this thread. I have held off on buying 2k12 because of all the problems I have heard. I was wondering if this game is worth getting after the patch. I still have my copy of 2k11 and was looking forward to this years game until I heard about how glitchy it was.

I always use Full playcalling vision..that isnt the issue..the problem was spending the time to sort out which plays have no chance of working because they either self abort, or they are too slow moving as you try to flow through them and see what develops

Unfortunately, the online association i am in, is on all-star, so i am stuck.. Im just tired of it..im sick of the constant buzzer beating shots they are making as the shot clock winds down, or to end the quarter, half or game..and all of the step through layup conversions in traffic, in the paint..its atrocious.
