Plays more like a 'real game of basketball' is subject to opinion. We'll see. I'm not making any judgement about the patch(obviously because I have not played it myself), I'm merely speaking to the way things have gone historically with 2K and patches.

As I stated if the game is 'easier' because its more balanced and realistic I'm all for that. Often times though when 2K tries to make such gameplay changes through patching, it breaks other things that were good about the game.

Breaking things to fix other is a virtual fact of life when it comes to patches. Also, a gane playing like the real game of basketball doesnt include the cpu reacting in conceert with user input and perfectly mirroring user movement. It also doesnt include player routinely playing above their ratings and tendencies on a regular basis. Those are the knids of things being discussed.

I think you're missing the general point. I never said the game plays perfectly like a real game of basketball out the box, but it was challenging and fun(offline). There are definitely things that needed to be balanced and adjusted, but sometimes that attempt to balance takes the game from one extreme to the next.

I read the thread, I know what people are saying, but I don't know the appetite for challenge of those persons, the patience of those persons as far as learning curve or their skill level. Just because someone says 'the game plays more realistically' doesn't mean 'realistically' to them doesn't mean 'I'm finally able to win games'. A person saying 'steals in the passing lane are more realistic' could easily mean the game is no longer punishing them for ill advised passes and ball movement. This is why, like I said, I am reserving my judgement.

I haven't even tried to play All-Pro yet this year honestly. I have learned over the years that I just don't enjoy the game as much when I'm having to concentrate THAT much just to compete, and I couldn't agree more with some of the posts regarding the CPU cheapness. On pro, I win most of the time, but I'm using the Bulls and they are a good team, so I expect to win unless I'm playing a top tier team.

My biggest gripes with the game seem to be the same as most people, the passing and the speed issue. Hopefully this patch will help the passing out, but is there a slider setting that can help with the player speed? I was thinking Madden had some slider which caused a more noticeable difference between fast and slow players. Anyone got any slider recommendations regarding this issue? Tired of seeing D Rose in shackles baby!

Thanks guys.

I can't speak for everyone, but I was definitely one of those guys who felt the game was unbalanced and challenging in a cheating way before the patch. When guys say the game is easier, we're saying that the cheapness factor is pretty much gone. Yes, there is still some mirroring and on-ball defense is still problematic, but the CPU isn't playing above itself anymore. You can now contest shots and actually affect the shot percentage. Your A.I. teammates also play smarter. To me, those things have nothing to do with some learning curve. Those are elements that should have been available to the user from the jump. All I wanted is that feeling that my actions impact the game. Some of us actually know the game of basketball and aren't complaining about the game pre-patch because we're sore losers. Saying the game is easier on the higher settings just means that the CPU is actually beatable with proper play and execution. Even Da Czar didn't play on that difficulty at launch. Are you going to say he doesn't know basketball either?

Dude put a lid on it ok. . . the patch clean-up a lot of on the court issues. The game-play is a lot smoother, more balanced, spacing and movement is better, controls are more responsive, player control improved, less bumping, cpu doesn't hold the ball as often late in the shot clock. Is it perfect not at all. Has the playability been eased. . . feels like it has to me, but that's a good thing as it's still very challenging to play on pro/allstar. I haven't tried superstar yet.

Somethings I noticed right off the top that I wished where addressed are

1. Boxing out on rebounds.
2. Effective double teams.
3. Pick-and-roll play.
4. Fast break catch-up speed reduced.
5. Cpu recovery speed reduced.

I haven't touched Association, My Player or Online yet. I want to wait until the majority of the NBA transactions have been completed or a newly custom hex edited roster becomes available cough*(PP,Tomba and crew)

As for everyone making your BLIND impressions when you don't even have the patch or let alone the game. . . just stop-it. Stop with all the history repeats itself BS ok. Get it. . . and voice your own impression(s).

Thanks to 2K for the hook-up but I really who've been highly impressed if my 5 game-play issues above would've gotten addressed. NBA 2K12 is still a really good game of basketball.
