Did I stop buying NBA 2K even though Live was on the market, NO. It is a concern but it is not a major concern. A major concern must have major penalties for handling it wrong and there are no major penalties for 2K not having it's online game correct, just like there were never any major penalties for MLB THE Show not holding up online. Answer this for me, why have I never seen a roundtable about MLB THE Show and how poor there online operated?

Once again, I think people are reaching with this. Yes, I want it fixed even though I am not into online like that, but making article after article beating a dead horse is really not the answer. At the end of the day, 2K will not be good online next year either and they will not lose significant share to Live. Too strong of product recognition at this point.
What are you talking about. That was fixed very early in NBA 2k8 life cycle. If someone pulled the plug you got the win. Trust me. I was in the top 10. I had quite a few first quarter KO's.

Your statement has nothing to do with the game play or speed at which the game played. It was the best compared to any 2k release.

There is a reason true 2k8 fans who have been with the series day one considers it 2k's best online game.

Since that was the last time you played online it's kind of hard to take your opinion serious.

Since the people I have played who only play offline usually suck the worst.

They join our onsite leagues " We meet and play" and get crushed.

You've been doing that for 4 years.

Idk about the rest of you guys but even when i'm playing offline its most likely against friends and we play to win cheese or not. The thing about me is I can't play cheese because I'm always thinking like i'm really on the court and exploiting weakness in strategy not in the game. I remember my friends used to clown me back in 2k8-2k9 because I actually used the post moves, and exploited there weaknesses with it. They'd be like "You think this is real Life!?!?"... YUP

As for online, theres a 97% chance that if a game doesn't have online i won't even buy it, I get sick of the CPU in hours. I need the game to feel dif. everytime and that's what online brings. Even when playing cheesers if you use real basketball strategy they can be blown out. That's the fun part, thinking like a coach, not just against cpu called plays but against real minds.

2k would be the best sports game hands down if there online was as smooth and lag free as offline. This is an area they HAVE to fix, the other modes just won't hold me long enough. After all the fun times, jokes, and memories i've had online with videogames there no way i could ever go back to just playing the cpu, and thinking thats fun. Idk how people do it honestly.
Me neither. Haven't played against the AI in 2k since 2k1. And that was only for practice with running plays for my human leagues. I would actually spend more time in practice working on my shot than plays.

I guess some people can get their competitive juices flowing putting Lebron, Kobe, Derrick Rose and Dwight Howard on the same team.

I don't get it either.

I tell ya. Most only play the AI because they suck. They hate losing but still want to play the game.

So they take their sliders and make the game competitive for them. Even though when they meet a real person that plays regularly against real people they get crushed.

Re: OS Roundtable: Are 2K12's Online Gaffes a Major Concern?

Trust me i know i dont suck. Ill go toe to toe with the best or think there the best and prevail but let battle at each other home on the biggest screen tv we got playing offline. Online in sports game is a joke

Lol lol lol i just can't stop laughing. I think the sports genre would do well if online play didnt exist because well all online play in sports game sucks yet games like madden fifa and 2k sell pretty well with crappy online. To me these game companies are wasting resources trying to make online work instead using it where the money really is at in sports, OFFLINE PLAY!!

So really really online major concern really really!!

See, here's the thing...2K is great offline, except when a 4-point lead in the 3rd quarter turns into a 30-point deficit in a span of 4 minutes because everyone decided to evolve into Reggie Miller to prevent you from executing plays and creating a lead.

As much as you guys don't want to admit that online is just as important, IF NOT MORE important, than offline, ask yourselves this: Would you have spent 64.99 on 2k12 without online functions? Just a straight up, offline game? Sure, it's better than 2k11, but is that alone worth 60 dollars?

There's a reason Call of Duty is repeatedly the best selling game of all-time. And that comes after critics (usually guys who like Battlefield, etc.) say that they have the same graphics, or that the TD concepts are the same. It's because when you pick up that controller, you know you're gonna have a great time, even if you die 20 times and get 4 kills. Coming back to have a good game after that is gratifying. Raining fire from an AC-130 to lead your team to victory feels amazing.

However, when I play 2K online, I don't even feel good about it because I'm always wondering if the game will drop, giving me the loss (or an unearned win). Couple that with the cheesers who always pick the Knicks, Heat, Thunder, or any other team that can cheese threes (Golden State will become a cheese team soon enough), as well as the absence of sliders and admin control in Online Associations, and it's an undesirable online experience overall. I don't know about 2K's track record since I started playing 2K last year, but I KNOW for a fact I VERY rarely have had problems with EA's servers or online experience in Madden, NCAA, etc. Sure, there are money plays, but money plays can be stopped if you know what you're doing, and you can still win if you know what you're doing. There's no way I can beat a guy who practices for hours with Steph Curry, then runs around with him until he shoots a 3 from the top of the key and it gracefully goes in EVERY SINGLE TIME. Especially since for some reason, defenders react SOOO slow and late to offensive players' moves.

If 2K doesn't get it together, then it WILL lose time to Battlefield 3 and MW3. Plus, not to mention Batman: AC, Gears of War 3, Assassin's Creed Revelations, Final Fantasy (for me, personally), Skyrim, etc. This is a great year for games, and then by next year EA will release a teaser trailer and we'll know for SURE if EA is serious about getting back on top or not.

Re: OS Roundtable: Are 2K12's Online Gaffes a Major Concern?

Online hasn't been an issue to me. Maybe because 1- I don't play random cheesers and 2- Ive had 1 drop issue since I been online. I've played about 10-15 games online.

I play on a site that aims towards sim gaming so I don't worry about the garbage people want to call basketball online. First game online dude quits halfway through the game because I was beating him with the nets.

If anything the lack of customization with the OA is the biggest thing because they took out leagues for some reason and said specifically that commishes can control damn near anything in there. Now maybe when the website finally launches in November things may change but I'm not optimistic.

There is major concerns with the online play.
We can't save any settings, such as camera or coach settings.
We can't play online with the shot feedback on.
We can't choose what player we want to use at any position on team ups (ex. Joe johnson cant run Point Guard like in 2k9,10&11.)
Hell we can't even select the uniform we want to play with..
This game took a MAJOR step back from the last few years.. i am very disappointed..
We

Sorry dude, disregard that last post... I was actually going to ask for the name of that website & if it's for Xbox 360 or PS3??
