First sim racing game. I got my Chevy affinity level up to four, went and bought an Impala, and then proceed to max out all the upgrades including slap a turbo charger on there. Now all I do is sit there and listen to the engine idle. I love the sound of power.

It would be really cool if you could set the fuel and tire wear to like 4x like the F1 games, then do like a 8 lap race and pit once.
I actually wish they'd let us have full race weekends with practice and qualifying. The lack of qualifying especially annoys me. I always cringe when people talk about Forza and GT like they are complete sims even though i do agree that there are elements that they both do better than anyone else. In real racing, you don't just show up and start a race.

I don't know how it works in Forza 4 yet as I only played a couple of races but as best I could tell in Forza 3 your starting position was determined by your driver level. You would start last until you reached level 5 and then you would start one spot further ahead for every 5 driver levels you reached. I reached level 27 and was always starting 3rd.

I hope they changed it as I don't want to reach the really high driver levels only to start every race on pole. While it's somtimes fun to defend your position, I would much rather start towards the middle and try to climb back up to the front. I wish they'd just randomize your starting position if they're totally against adding qualifying.

I'm not sure they kept the same system or a variation of it for Forza 4 as I did not start last in my 2 races last night but the fact that I started 6th both times makes me think the system is similar.

In spite of all that, i do love this game.

Not a bad idea for a separate thread, but I just use a controller.

Maybe we could make a new thread and get a mod to merge this thread with the new one?

Forza 4, despite looking amazing, feels like more of the same rather than a revolution, which isn't a bad thing. Like the old adage goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

On the flipside, something about this game makes it a lot more addicting than Forza 3. I think it's a combination of improved visuals, physics and AI, plus the new, more straightforward career mode. The "just one more turn" trope is in full effect here, only it's "just one more race".

Also, what kind of black magic are people doing to get over 500 cars? I have disc 2 installed plus the launch bonus pack, and I only have 499 cars available to me. Perhaps the reviewers are including the pre-order cars and the muscle car DLC pack?

Let me just say that I've played just about every racing game from the days of Pole Position on Atari, to GT, and every installment of Forza. This is easily the most complete racing game to date.

There is a lot of talk of visuals and gameplay, and while they are excellent, the best part of this game is the sheer number of gameplay options. Career mode is much improved, and the requisite Hot Laps and on-line races are still in place, but Rivals mode is where it's at. I get that nervous-giddy feeling everytime I boot up (like opening a Christmas present when I was a kid) because I can't wait to see whether my friends were able to best any of my Rivals times. They usually have, which sends me right back to the track to reclaim my dominance.

I can see that I will likely never tire of this game because there are just sooooo many things to do and explore. Very well could be the most complete game of any genre I play. Makes me wonder, if Turn10 can get this game so right, why can't EA fix Madden?!

Here's the full car list, for the guy who wondered where the "500+" number comes from:

Wireless MS Racing wheel. Glad I didn't sell it a while back like I was planning to.
