Re: FIFA 12 Season Ticket Early Release Available Now, Post Impressions Here (360, PS

Just finished playing my first game. USA (me) Vs Australia 10 min halves, Pro

First impression is Wow, I love the way this game feels. I might find gripes with the game later but you know what, right now I'm just going to enjoy the heck out of this game because it's beautiful.

There's a great pace to the game that just feels so real and right. I notice a nice difference between this and the demo but it's hard to say exactly what it is. The players really do feel like they have a higher level of intelligence both while attacking and defending. I felt like I was actually playing with competent teammates. I like the new defending and you can definitely force a slower tempo by sitting back and letting the offensive players play into a crowded area. If you break from the gameplan and go ball chasing they find the hole.

The dribble animations also seemed smoother than in the demo, I'll check this more as I play but from a first impression I'm ecstatic.

My first goal was via drawing a foul in the box for a Donovan Penalty. So much for not seeing any fouls. My first actual (non-penalty) goal was a nice little sequence of passes from one side to the middle to a cutter from the wing who just barely got by his defender. *I'll post the video in the highlight thread in a sec.

Game ended 2-0 as I was able to dodge a few close calls including a goal that was called back because the player was offsides.

I'm really happy with this game so far

Aye....The one thing that made Fifa 10 go dull(after the inital wow factor) still hasn't been fixed 2 years later? Guess I'll wait till the 14th :-/

Right now I actually feel like if EA were to release a patch that only included the tuning of fouls I would be perfectly satisfied.

Did the cpu change formation or tactis when behind? Did they drop a defender for an attacker? Did they change shape to push forward?

I could probably live with the lack of fouls but I have to know the cpu will change formations and tactics as needed.

The game does feel good to play, for sure.

Play a few more games and see if you still feel that way.

That is the issue. One game I'll be fouled three times and win a penalty. The next ten games, I get fouled once at midfield.

We just hit the actual US release, so hopefully after Friday when it's released in the UK we will hear something from EA. They already acknowledged that the demo had foul issues, so at least they're not pretending to not know it's there.

If it is truly the case that these flaws are dealbreakers, then really we wouldnt be able to play ANY of the sports titles available. All of them have something that just isnt realistic about them.
It's the same as any other game. They all have flaws and it's up to the individual user to decide what he can live with. You can obviously live with the issue. That's great get the game and enjoy, but I don't think anyone on this forum looks for a reason not to buy a game. Personally, I'm trying to find other great areas and things about the game to warrant a purchase.

I've played over 30 complete games(and about 10 others that I quit in frustration) of the early release and the CPU averages less than 2 fouls a game. Taking and defending set pieces are a HUGE part of soccer and the developers have NOT done anything about it in the last 5 editions of this game. FIFA 10 was tolerable at best. The devs actually implemented a Create a Set Piece feature a couple of years ago. My question was, what is the point if I never get to use it?

Would you play an NBA game without fouls and free throws? An NFL game without punts? It's a BIG issue. The piss poor sub patterns of the CPU that have never been addressed, the CPU NEVER changing formations are frustrating, but personally I can live those things. Again it comes down to what the individual can deal with.

For the last 5 years this game has been geared towards the casual fan and the hardcore online players who would normally not even notice the obvious glaring issues and often scripted game play.

Do you think maybe you can elaborate a little more on how/why you seem to be the only player that is seeing fouls/cards? What level do you play on? Do you use CTT? Tell us about your playing style. What sliders are you using?

Just curious.....
