I will say that I did like the player movement and the new post-up button is good, although I'm wondering how to do signature gathers now? Dirk is going to be a blast to use this year; he's very dangerous in the triple-threat position and I like that the CPU recognized that. I was able to create space and shoot a J over Bosh and then later when he pressed up on me, I drove past him for a layup.

I like the push dribble as well.

I know I'll love the retail, but I'm done with the demo as it's too limiting.
Exactly my sentiments from day 1...

The work these guys have done is absolutely amazing

..but the demo, far too limited for what it is

Re: NBA 2K12 Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here (360, PS3)

I've lost track of how many times I've played this demo and that's when I like to give my impressions.

I've never played a basketball game where I did not know what to expect or where I did not see a pattern in the way the game flows and the way the AI tries to beat you. In this regard, I think NBA 2k12 will surpass any other basketball game I have played before. The tight fluid movement, gathering before shots and dunks and the shot arsenal are all exceptional and organic, but this year it's the AI that takes this game to another level.

I love this move in sports gaming generally, as I saw it in the Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 demo as well. Its very hard to keep improving visuals in this console generation, and to come up with new big trumpeted features every year. However this is the closest 2K has made it to feeling like you are playing against another person. In the 2k12 demo the AI takes what I give them, finds the seams in the defence, finds the best shot to take, switches action if I cut off a pass, uses the full arsenal at its disposal and sometimes just simply plays beautiful basketball (all on default/casual). Gone are the days of bullet passes in the paint from 2k8, routine miracle 3 pointers, and magically quick defenders.

The game is not perfect and there are some flaws but If the retail version is even better than this, I know I will personally be in basketball video game bliss come October.

it's not a huge issue, but just feels a bit off to me.
I agree, this was also in 2k11.

Actually the "evil" does happen in the NBA....where bodies to be accounted for...thats what im getting at...people wanted to get rid of "bumping" but its necessary.

would you want a game where you have to maintain your dribble with the right bumper everytime you have the ball? why not? you have to in the NBA.

makes perfect sence to me... hypebeasts. i was told/read many times that 2k has made the greatest bball game ever not cuz of gameplay but based on features. well if its so many features why cant you atleast have a pleasing demo with regular gameplay features? but i could be wrong.

I find that bumping in the demo occurs whenever it makes sense for it to occur, such as when I dribble straight into a defender or when I manage to cut off the CPU ball handler in time. 2K11 had far too much bumping in my opinion, to the extent it was hard to use a screen without bumping into somebody and getting past someone like Fisher with the likes of Rose and Deron was a gamble. Besides, even if I do force the penetration in the demo, I usually end up missing the layup because of the help defense, so it's well balanced.

It does not matter what happens in real life, in this case. It is either the cpu is cheating or just a code in the game were you cant sucessfuly perform certain defensive moves if timed perfectly. if it is a human vs human and the heat user isnt good, to a degree lebron will still be unstoppable. hope thats not the case.
I understand what you mean. Ive had perfect timing on defence and still failed at stopping the likes of lebron and wade, or even bosh from midrange. I'm not referencing the fact that it happens in real life, I'm really saying that even in the game these guys are representations of the players they actually are and so are the defenders you are using. There are no standout defenders on the Mavs though I do think good team defence is rewarded in the game. Things could definitely be tighter, and I hope they are in retail.
