Re: NBA 2k12 Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here: 360 & PS3 Versions UP

The more play time I get with the demo, the more amazing this game feels.

Collisions are a game-changer. 2K finally got it right this year and it lends to quite a dynamic feel when guys are driving to the hoop. It almost seems like there are no specific mo-capped layups... I'm seeing new ones each time due to the seamless shot adjustments.

Jump shots feel much, much better. Pulling up of the dribble and shots on the move laterally are without hitches like last year.

The ball is live. You can dribble off guys feet accidentally, shot blocking is more natural and hands up defense actually has meaning.

My pet peeve in 2K11 of guys coming off screens and ending up behind the 3pt line majority of the time(even non-3pt shooting PF's and Centers) has been corrected.

The AI is amazing. The computer did some moves against me that I'd save as highlights if I could. Your teammates move more intelligently without the ball and defensive rotations are more educated on both sides.

Dribbling feels more controlled, fast breaks are great on both ends, the post game is AMAZING and much, much more. I really think 2K has absolutely nailed gameplay this year.

At a glance you might say its better, but personally i prefer the color pallette of the ps3 version, it just looks more realistic, where the xbox version looks sort of cartoony because of the bright colors. Last year i said if they bring the ps3 version graphically to the level of xbox and keep the color pallette, it would be the best looking one for me, looks like 2k might have done that this year. either way i don't think ps3 players have much to worry about this year.

If that is so, you fixed my day friend!

Same thing happens to me. Actually a shimmy up and under. And the only other problem I encountered is that if I fake while in the post I lose my pivot.

Were the new defensive additions present in the demo or is it only accessible with the complete game? They said they changed something?

Escape Dribble Pull Ups are amazing! Those are definitely going to be THE go-to-move with the game on the line.

Re: NBA 2K12 Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here (360, PS3)

On the PS3 demo, Lebron just threw down the nastiest poster dunk I've ever seen in a video game, just vicious. It really sucks there's no replay button because that was awesome.

This is basically what I've been waiting for with a basketball video game. 2ks amazing intangibles have finally met up with users having full control, and the AI is now up to par. The players play like how they do in real life and most everything is sim.

Even last year I was so frustrated playing the CPU because it was too easy to win because you're generally playing vs the same style every game and it was too predictable. Now it looks as though every game is going to be a big challenge and you're finally going to have to gameplan in many different aspects of the game to beat the CPU and a good human player.

I love also how they have given us control of post shots, as I was frustrated with seeing players like KG and Dirk take a ton of left handed hook shots from 10 feet out last year instead of doing their patented fadeaways that looked insane and basically no one in the game shoots anymore, let alone makes with ease.

I'm very impressed so far.

Anyone tried cheesing with the dropstep dunk? I wanna know if it is overpowered. The bums at hoopsgaming say their forced lead passing won't work as well in this game which is always nice to hear but ofc they claim they will find new exploits.

I have both consoles and the demo seems to look and play equally well on both. I will agree that the colors seemed to be bit toned down on the ps3 version. The actual gameplay seemed just as good.

But, of course, the final release version will tell the tale on both platforms. Keep in mind here the 2k sports games are generally developed for the 360 system and ported to the ps3. Hence the percieved better looks and gameplay for the 360 as opposed to the ps3.

But this year could finally be the year that both versions are equals. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
