Are you sure you're not talking about FIFA here?

I always see CPU in PES taking risks on passes. CPU in PES are not afraid to make a mistake on passes, while in FIFA, it always have to be a direct pass to their teammates. This is also why you don't see offsides in FIFA by CPU because they dont take risks.

I think head to head games are going to be really high scoring if everything stays as is.

I really wish EA would rethink how they put out the FIFA demo. For one the time limit is way to short. You can't get any sort of feel for how the AI or pace will be. Secondly, team selection is poor. You've got Barcelona, Arsenal, and Dortmund that have very similar styles. AC Milan and Citeh are similar although Citeh is starting to become more free flowing. Then you have Marseille who play slower. I would love to see a club like Stoke or Napoli/Udinese that play a unique brand of footy. I would also like to see a poor club. Give us a championship side to see if we can tell the difference between a Barca and say a Nottingham Forest. When you select your favorite club they let you see how they differ in terms of tactics but they are nearly identical for all the clubs.

Also, shooting on angles is still a little too easy and it's further compounded with the finesse shots. I think the keepers need to do a better job of closing down those angles.

One thing that has delighted me is I have seen a couple CPU clearances where they couldn't deal with a ball and were forced to either boot it out of play or hoof it down the pitch. A welcome addition IMO. I also love the freedom on headers. I feel like the player movement and impact engine is at it's best then. I've climbed on people's backs, seen elbows to the back, and felt like I've stolen headers from bigger players. One little thing I have always liked in FIFA compared to the other game is when there is an advantage the little yellow icon comes up. Sometimes in the other game the ref is out of the picture and without commentary you can't tell if there's a foul. Crowd and commentary are top notch too.
My biggest issue is that the AI wants to walk in a goal each time they attack. And because of what you mentioned about how easy the computer can just turn and leave you behind, almost happens each time.

I played a couple times today and noticed Dortmund take a couple long range shots which was nice to see. I wish EA would have gone the PES route and given us longer halves. As mentioned, it's impossible to get a true feel for the game.

Thank you.

I agree with the time also, the DEMO was too short.

Yup... either that, or you're overmatched.

If you want, I can film me playing against Barca and post it how they constantly create passign shots and Xavi and Iniesta taking shots from outside. Then you can see that it is in fact if you play a proper game or not.

And again, this is a DEMO... you want to critique games for flaws that cant possibly be seen in such a short game, simply stop playing game demos. It's incredible what people today find to criticize.

I don't like your criticism of others' criticisms.

They put demos up so people can try the games out and critique the pros and cons in that version. You say that you can't take anything from a demo as an indication for the full game but the problem is that nowadays that exact thing happens. People find glaring flaws and glitches in the demos that are either never fixed or patched months later with varied success.

What exactly is the point of a demo in your eyes, then? The onus is on EA one way or another. Hopefully the demo is just too short.

Re: FIFA 12 Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here (360, PS3, PC)

Well stated Brian.

I actually wanted FIFA12 to be sound tactically because I followed the videos for months. And, I certainly agree that the time spent with the demo and the shortness of the demo does not lend itself to an accurate conclusion of what the retail release will be.

My issue is that I'm an adult with a job and kids and my play time is limited so when I set aside time for a game, I really prefer to get as close to real as possible.

PES has issues that drive me crazy and its not perfect. But, I know what I'm up against based on the team I'm about to play. Spain, Germany, and the US all play differently. Chances are that those differences will be felt by me (the user) more with PES than FIFA.

If I played you on FIFA I would most likely love the game because you would likely use your team's strengths to the fullest. But, I fear thats not the case if I oppose the CPU. If you used England, I'm almost certain you'd be testing my keeper from distance with those great shooting midfielders. But, FIFA doesn't do that.

Only 1 guy (based on his posts I'm guessing he's a child) defends FIFA as tactically sound. And, he has not detailed how. Enough said about him.

As of the writing of this post, not a single person has stated that they have experienced the CPU midfielders attempting a shot.

I don't want to insult the guys who love FIFA. I asked three simple questions early on and none of the answers were positive.

I just opposed Inter in PES and Sniejder hit a screamer from outside the box that terrified me, even though it was deflected. Thats the stuff I'm looking for.

But I have come to love Fifa and accept this fact: Fifa is an offensive minded game. It's not nearly as strategic as PES, but it is fun. I really enjoy it for what I can do. Be it building up and disecting the D with a through-ball, or getting my sticks twirling to set up a highlight goal. I don't think a lot of Fifa fans are much different than me. Serious Fifa players like playing other human opponents.

I have always loved it because I think it stirkes the perfect balance of the "wow" moments of soccer. It could be better in regards to build up and probing, but we are talking about a game that most people play in two 10-minutes halves. You can't really have a slow pace to the game, or it'll be a whole lot of draws. And the cottage industry of Fifa Highlight reels will die. All jokes aside, I love both games, but Fifa will always be my fave. I like the controls, the graphics (especially this year on PC) and the level of tricks they've added. Sure it's got a bit of Fifa Street in it's heart. But it's a great soccer videogame to me. Warts and all....

P.S. Wait for the CEP guys to get a hold of the PC version. A lot of the flaws will get addressed. They can tweak the gameplay through the .ini files to fix a lot of the niggles, especially the Defensive pressure by AI teamates. But probably not the inherent nature of this being a run and gun style of game. I can't see this game ever being programmed that way . It sells pretty good with the current style of soccer it plays....
