and two can play that game, the Jazz were already there in the 80's, the Rockets had a great team in the 80's also, Barkley was already rocking thins in the 80's, the Knicks were not bad also, plus you got all those other great teams
tell me this when discussions about the best teams of all time pop up, how many 90's are mentioned? as for the 80's you got always at least 4 teams

I know it's just the regular season, but the Bulls did beat the Rockets twice by double digits just one year later in 1996. No reason to think MJ wouldn't have stepped his game up in the Finals against them. They would've had no answer for The Dream, but Idk who would have stopped MJ and Pip.

There was also The Orlando Magic with Shaq and Penny. And the Heat were a strong team in the mid 90's.

all those 90's teams y'all mentioned don't reach top teams discussions everytime almost like a fact as oppose to the 87 Lakers, 83 Sixers, 86 Celtics and 89 Pistons
I'm not saying there was no competition in the 90's, you got plenty of really good teams but you also had, due to the expansion mostly, a lot of bad teams, really a lot... in the 80's you got all those top teams all-time and also other really good teams all around, including some that would become among the best in the 90's

And when the discussion comes up of the greatest player and best team to ever play you have one player in both discussions Michael Jordan, The 80's Celtics and Lakers were stacked no disagreement there and the game was more about fundamentals, in the Late 80' to the present the game evolved where you did not need an entire team of great players to win, you needed 2 stars/scoring options and role players because of the leap in athletic individuals.

Your argument fails for one reason all the teams you mentions won the championship that year, the reason the 90's only had 3 was because of 1 Michael Jordan and the Bulls, the Bulls winning 6 in 8 years is the reason a lot of great teams will never got the respect the deserve you can't just claim that to be a great team you need to win it all, every year you had more than a handful of teams fighting for the championship.
