Ya I fully understand that. However, there have been many games where I haven't felt that way though. That's why I buy the game. You can't figure those things out until you actually play the game. The day I stop buying games will be when I no longer enjoy them. I still enjoy NHL despite some of the money goals and other gameplay flaws. It hasn't been quite enough to make me stop playing the game. On the other hand this is the first year I haven't bought Madden on release day in probably like 5 years. I'm quite proud of myself. I did buy NCAA though.

That doesn't really mean no effort should be made from year to year to fix a problem if it's there.

But it is an indication that solving them are a lot harder than just saying they should. I can't wait to praise a game for solving them. But I'm not going to waste my time pretending that this should be the year.

When you're able to score the same goal 5 years in a row, or when you're stuck with the same cut-scenes 5 years in a row I think anytime would be good to make it "the year".

There are and will be a whole ton of complaints floating around within the next couple weeks that will be a little ridiculous, no doubt. Concerns/commentary like this though? I think they're completely warranted.

Also, again, I don't understand how you could be of the mindset that if it's broke and requires extra work, don't fix it. I get what you're saying, that perhaps there's an issue that requires multiple levels of fixes to achieve (much like the speedy backwards skating conversation from earlier), but since when is that a good excuse for anything? It's hard to fix?

I wish I could just take a year off to go to EA Canada and observe how they program a game from the beginning of the development cycle to the end. I know there is a crap load that goes into it so it would be interesting to see.

As for fixing things that have plagued the game since day one, it's their job to correct them. Let's say a marketer has to give a presentation about something. The boss gives them the project details but the worker says "It's too difficult to do." I'm sorry but that does not fly out in the working world. The NHL team has no excuse to say "it's too difficult." If they do, then they should be canned. That is their job to figure it out and find ways to fix things without breaking anything else. If they can't do that then they are in the wrong business. I just don't understand how problems that have been in the game for so long haven't been fixed. It's almost like they avoid talking about it to. You would think they would know what problems have existed in their game for the past 5 years.

Re: NHL 12 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here (360, PS3)

Speaking from experience, a development team rarely says something is too hard or impossible to do. What usually happens is the development team will say it'll take X number of days and Y resources to get the job done. Someone else decides whether or not the time/cost investment is worth it or if those resources should be spent elsewhere.

I'd kill to have as much man power and resources that EA has for this game each year. It boggles my mind that with all those resources, the same problems exist from year to year.

Sometimes it's nice to be an offline NHL player.
I'm planning on focusing more on the offline aspects of the game this year. No matter how many bugs they fix, the community is going to find new ways to make the game less fun online.

There are just too many people in the online community who seem bound and determined to ruin the game.
