We can only hope EA have more news to bring, but with no competition in the genre this year, I have my doubts.
Yeah because with no competition EA didn't have to add a brand new physics engine, right?

NHL 11 was just as similar in the amount of improvements it made to every other next gen NHL released while NHL 2K was still around and this year is looking like the same thing, so the whole "no competition" thing is pointless to bring up.

I can agree that the news about jersey numbers isn't the type of news that makes you want to rush out and pre-order the game, but it's something a lot of people have wanted to see added. I can also agree that the mode itself is poorly presented. That's something I'd like to see addressed, so hopefully it was.

Also, an improved sim engine is huge and one of the biggest problems GM mode has had. I don't see how that means we're in trouble. If anything it means we're in good hands when you have a dev team that is listening to our complaints and addressing them. From what I've read it wasn't an easy thing to just scrap the old sim engine and build this completely new one, so they could have just sat around with their old broken sim engine for us to complain about some more, but instead they fixed it.

Anyways, there's still more GM mode info left to be revealed apparently, so we'll see how many more improvements are made aside from what was mentioned in the blog and impressions from the community day guys.

Yeah I agree the simming had to be fixed before they did anything else, just sucks that it took 4 years into the next gen games to do it.

Re: NHL 12 Blog - Be a GM Improvements

Has any info come out on what the sim engine will base it's stats on? That is to say, if I like the results of the stats I get when playing 12 minute periods but, the sim engine is basing it's projections on either say a full NHL game or a 5 minute EA game, then once again there would be stats categories that the user would be severely off the average.

Like face-offs. In NHL 11, I got the right shot and goal totals but, I took more than double the amount of face-offs. I'm excited about a re-hauled sim engine but, I fear it' won't be adaptable to the different ways people play the game.

They said they're based off the player attributes. Not sure if anything else has an effect on it.

EDIT: Just noticed you were talking about actually playing games. I think that's a whole separate thing aside from the sim engine. The stats you get there will depend on the usual stuff like sliders, how many minutes you play, how the CPU is tuned to play, etc.

Re: NHL 12 Blog - Be a GM Improvements

i dont know about these updates...for sure Im glad that the schedules, trades and sim engine are addressed but somehow Im still skeptical. I guess I was expecting too much in the previous versions and Im always disappointed.

i would like to see better gameplay (like you can switch right away to the players you'd like to control by using the buttons). smart Forwards that will not hesitate to cross the blueline in a possible odd-man rush. it pisses me off when im carrying the puck and your teammate goes behind your back so they will not get off-side.

EA should release this game with much much less glitch since they're the only one releasing NHL game next year.
