Any time a screenshot is released, for any game, there is a pretty good chance that it is "enhanced" at least a little.

Re: Madden NFL 12 Screenshots - Marshall Faulk

Because it seems like some have an attitude of, "Promotional screenshots are always touched up and look artificially good" or "Let's see the game in motion; screenshots always look better than the game", etc., I thought it would be interesting to go in the operationsports archives and share some Madden 11 promotional screens that came out in May 2010 to get an idea of how these pre-release promotional screens looked in a previous Madden.

And I'm bolding this to prevent any confusion:
THE FOLLOWING ARE MADDEN 11 SCREENS RELEASED LAST MAY

What you think? I think the Madden 12 promotional screens are better than the Madden 11 ones from last May. Either EA has gotten better at selecting ideal screens or the game's graphics really have improved. I'm thinking the latter

Here is some examples of what I am talking about.

Add these things to these pictures and you got a image VERY similar to the Marshall Faulk pic.

1) Improved Player Models
2) Improved Lighting engine
3) 3D grass, I don't think people realize how much this improves the realism of the shots. Imagine some of these images with the 3D grass and you can see how real they would look.

Yea the Faulk pic was not touched up. It was just a great shot taken from the perfect angle with the new lighting, new player models, and the excellent 3D grass. You get a picture that is boarder line photo realistic. Hell NCAA 11 had some pics that looked board line photo realistic and it did not have any of the new improvements.

Touching up promotional shots IS a common practice. If anyone doubts this, you are free to doubt it. Won't change that it happens. A LOT!

Agreed, but claiming that the Faulk shot won't look like that on our TV's will be false and I can promise there will be a "Photographic side of Madden 12" thread with pictures just as good. Mark my words.

I don't see a big stretch from the above to this with the new lighting, new color, new player models, and the excellent 3d grass
