EA makes a lot of money off releasing Madden and NCAA every year. You are more likely to see a 16 team playoff in college football than EA go to a 2 year cycle for their football games. But the user can easily go to a 2 year cycle by buying the game every other year. I really didn't like NCAA 10 so I rented and took a pass. I just played NCAA 09 for another year and NCAA 11 was a really nice improvement. Don't like NCAA 12? Just skip it and you will see a nice improvement with NCAA 13.

As for the current gen engine being the fault of player momentum, I disagree with pjv. I don't believe it's the player engine at all. I believe it's programmed that way on purpose because the developers want every player to cut on a dime. They like the game to play that way and program it to behave that way. As long as this dev team is in charge of the game you can expect to see this stay the same no matter what engine they use. I'd be OK with that if they offered options on player momentum the way they do game speed and the speed threshold. But they don't.

I completely agree this just killed my will to buy this game the only difference that i can see from the line play is that the defensive line stays on their feet (last year they fell after the ball snapped. if the demo is not different i'll pass on buying and just do gamefly

Not a bad theory, but I like mine better.

Yea, I agree that EA should remove a feature from the game so we users can pay for rosters we previously got for free.

You're just speculating though. We haven't seen anybody do a two year cycle on a sports game, so we don't know if it would work or not. It seems logical that more time would equal better quality, but it is also logical that less releases in the same amount of time will equal less money made.

Sure, it would improve any game.

But it isn't a plausible solution for reasons others have mentioned here.

The solution is to find a way to develop games with two year plans, while making enough yearly upgrades and changes to warrant sales.

Just to point out an example.

For the last two years, the Show has been telling us they planned new player models for this years games (they delivered). My point is they obviously had a plan to do it for several years but still found ways to warrant the newer version being purchased.
