I hope they expand the classic teams and also the VIP system...VIP works better this year than any other, but they still need to tweak it a little and also allow the use of VIP opponents in Association, not just Exhibition games...also allow users to upload the game or player signature highlights as a whole just like The Show does...not just individual play highlights

I think that 2K will get better. The hint at analog dribbling is probably where they are heading this year and "analog dribbling" 2.0 will be upon us by the time Elite 13 drops. To me, that's really what NBA 2K truly needs at this point becuz my 2K11 has been catching crazy dust becuz of the lack of that and 2K knows that analog dribbling is next level...although Live had been doing it for a while...but didn't 2K, at one point? I forget.

Anology dribble would mean 2k would have to revamp their control scheme, and take away the shot stick never going to happen.

2k will be fine. For one its not like Elite/Live is never coming back. Who knows what they're going to do to try and dig into 2k's slice of the pie. I'm sure 2k knows this and won't rest on their laurels.

NBA 2K has never rested on their laurels and have always put out a great product. I do not expect this to change and anybody that insinuates has been absent from the B-ball gaming world for the last 11 years. 2K12 will deliver, BIG!

As most people know, the only reason there is to not liking 2K, is

A. You suck
B. You'd rather be dunking from the free-throw line with Andrew Bynum and love watching the nets go up before the ball gets there.

This isn't NBA Jam and it's not NBA Live 2005. It makes me wonder, if people think a sim basketball video game, is good graphics and realistic faces. 2K is going to absolutely destroy EA, you really think 2K even considers them competition, seriously. 2K gradually improves their games year by year, and will continue to do so. Keep in mind, Madden is falling off, and 2K can't make a football game, I'm sure they've been really upset about that since 2005.

Yes there are things that need to be improved, but I swear you'd think people would realize it's a video game. People are asking for Jack Nicholson on the sideline, or post game interviews with players talking off a script.

Passing is good in this game, not perfect but good. Dribbling is perfect, too many people complaining about isomotion moves cause they can't do em. I seriously think people need to jump in practice mode and stay there for 5 hours, instead of jumping straight into games.

Most of you aren't good anyway, and just need practice. If you'd notice, none of the great 2K users, such as myself, complain about anything.
You know that you can NOT like a game right? You don't have to suck or not appreciate sim basketball, it just might not be your cup of tea. I know that you've mastered this game in and out and I'm sure no one here will ever come close to beating you but that doesn't mean they can't form their own opinion.

I love how we're mentioning 2K7 in the same breathe as 2K11. 2K7 was great for it's time, I doubt anyone would argue that, I still remember how hype the forum was before its release, but it is trash compared to 2K11. For every problem in 2K11 you can name 5 more in 2K7. Gameplay/Presentation/Feature wise (aka the entire game) 2K11 puts 2K7 to shame, and I'm not sure what you posted is true.

I won't even touch on this one. Passing in 2K7 shouldn't be compared to any 2K that succeeded it. The full-court cheesebombs for an easy layup and lead pass into the paint were in full effect that year.

Ah yes the 'twitch' (or whatever you want to call them) controls in 2K7, where you got any move you wanted at any time you wanted. Also defied everything we as humans are forced to respect on a daily basis (physics, momentum) by allowing you to start and stop at literally any point you wanted to. Loved me some Hopstep-spin ricotta.

Nope no stumbling, more like complete denial. People already forgot the Choops defensive stance? Where if you ran into a guy you completely stopped like you hit a brick wall?

Because there were no (or very little) two-player animations in 2K7. In fact there was very little interaction between players at all in 2K7.

3-4 years ago I would've agreed with most of your points but after playing Live 10/2K11, and then going back and playing 2K7...it's not close dude. I don't see how any "sim" head can argue that.

As for the original question, yes I'm completely confident. I've never met anyone from EA or been there so I don't know what the attitude is, but the word resting is not even in the building @ VC. Dudes are hardcore. You don't come in at 8 in the morning on a Saturday, leave at 10/11 at night and then come back at 7 the next morning, that's just not natural.

I'm not sure what's going to happen with Jordan and the whole classic teams for 2K12, but there are thousands of people just like this

that accounted for a chunk of this year's sales. Sales wise, I don't know if 2K12 will be on the same level, but I'm confident with the minds and talent behind every aspect of the game.

Also, let's not mistake being confident with being satisfied with the options available to us. Competition is always a good thing. Even if one turns out better than the other it's still nice to being able to change it up once in a while and see how games handle similar situations differently.

If EA has to wait until 2012 to get their ish together that's cool with me. Just make sure it's together, don't just tout features and throw a demo on XBL with no sign of any of the features you were pimping before its release.

Re: With No EA Sports Sim Basketball Title Until 2012, Are You Confident in NBA 2K12?

All I can say is, NBA 2K11 is a freaking work of art. I would it rank near the top, if not AT the top, of the best sports video games of all time. It's OBVIOUS that the people behind it put a LOT of effort and love into it. It's just so good on so many levels.

I have a hard time believing that those same people would just take the easy road and, if nothing else, risk tarnishing the reputation of this awesome product that they worked so hard to produce. So, in that regard, I am confident in the next installment, and will buy it on release day.

That being said, I have ZERO faith in corporate loyalty or decency, and I believe that anything is possible. If 2K lets NBA go the way that EA did with Madden, 2K13 will NOT get my money, period.
