In regards to that video with hard difficulty. Wow! That's what I'm talkin' about! White knuckle driving there, that feeling of one mistake and you will pay, instead of just being faster than the AI cars and easy to catch up.

I had heard the same thing and pre-patch I can confirm there is no actual setting for adaptive. Not quite sure if it happens during the race but it didn't really feel like it.
