Yes u can busted for entering too fast. You even get the 5 MPH buffer like in real life. It's really well done.

I have read a few times that the AI is 'adaptive' ... have you noticed this at all or seen a setting for this- or do you think it is just implemented into the game

just raced my 1st online race on the PS3(post-patch), and it was lag free, and very smooth.
