Re: NASCAR The Game 2011 Q&A and Impressions

After putting about 7 hours into it I can pretty much give my opinion that the game is great and I would echo Blue's opinion that gameplay wise and race feel, it is the best I have played on console. There are some issues that I have but they have to do with multiplayer and some of those things should be taken care of on the release date patch. I started playing on medium difficulty with "racer" assist just to get a feel of the game. Raced at Daytona and it wasnt much of a race, I really didnt see anyone other than on my minimap. But after racing through the season up til Martinsville, I have been on very hard and legend assist and I can tell a huge difference. I havent seen the justin tv stuff so I dont really know what is going on with that, but I can tell you that my experience has been very, very good on the single player side of the house. Cant really say anything about multiplayer yet. I will also comment that on the harder settings, you absolutely have to bump draft with someone or you will get left in a hurry. The AI also seems to run in packs and I think they did a very nice job with that. I will put some more time into the game in the morning and if anyone has any Xbox 360 specific questions that Blue hasnt answered, let me know and I will try my best to answer them as soon as I can tomorrow.

I'm set to get this game after what I have seen and read from Blue and all the other contributors here, I do have one question though:

Blue, Have you seen any indication of teamwork in the races you've played, where drivers under the same banner hook up, that kind of thing, or is it more of a, find what works for you and follow it to the start/finish with the AI?
Welcome brother! It is great to see alot of newcomers. Hope to continue to see you all here during and after NTG 2011 hits the shelves.

No worries, happy to answer! Obviously its not horrendous enough to cause any type of permanent damage, and not remarkable enough to insure any sustaining memory's.

Awesome, another who is echoing the need for the draft. I was worried about that and it definitely proves the dev's have been playing on easier settings.

Posted this on the NTG forums earlier, but I figured I would post it here too.

So, if the AI cars are damaged and much slower after crashing will they get out of the way of the lead lap cars that are battling for the lead?

I have seen no indication at all of true teamwork between actual teammates. I have seen guys hook up with each other, and the AI has no issue dropping right behind you and being your draft partner.

In a couple of races, Dale Jr. was my rival, and in another Mark Martin was.....but I drive as Jeff Gordon, so I don't think there is any digital correlation at all, in regards to real-world teammates.
I agree, it was also odd that I was racing as JJ and Gordon is drafting by me with Ragan. I was like what the heck Jeff, I need some help here teammate!! Later in the race Gordon ended up tapping my on my left rear quarterpanel and spinning me out. The teamwork hookups do seem to be random, but I am paying attention to that to see if it changes as the season goes along.
