I thought I saw yardage markers on the default Pro settings then when I changed to Tournament they were not there....maybe I am mistaken. I would have to play it again. I know I saw a bunch of yardage markers somewhere in the demo. This blog shows yardage markers.

Pretty sure the yardage markers are there, maybe not like in TW11 but I did not purchase TW11 so I dunno the difference. The real markers are there, like the 150, 100, 50 (to the pin).....and I also noticed if you change clubs down to the lowest club, like the sand wedge, you can see other markers that are not there in real life but might be something you find on a score card like the bunker distance or distance to a certain spot on the course from the tee. What you dont get is a way to aim at a specific spot, like putting your club down in the direction you want to hit and addressing the ball by squaring up to the club. All you get is a general area of the course to look at. It is really a crap shoot. I hate it that you can see the caddie's suggestion even though he is "disabled".

Me too, I hope there is a way to turn it off completely!

Just a thought, hopefully we can use true aim and this post ends up vain.
Dunno, but I sent a link to this forum and the EA TW12 forum to the the guys at Augusta National via their website. Dunno if they will read it but I thought they might be interested in what people are saying so far.

The dev said on the prior page it can't turned off and what you see in the demo is what you will get in the full game.

It looks like EA coded the caddie right from the beginning so you would have to overhaul the entire source code to get rid of it and that can't be done in a short amount of time when the game is about to release.

Like I said before, programming the game this way for the caddie option has to be one of the stupidest decisons ever made for a video game. I still can't wrap my head around what idiots they are for doing this.

EA introduces the best sim option in years with true aim that is universally loved by almost everyone and what do they do for an encore? They strip it down and take out all the features that made it enjoyable (elevation and yardage markers, club carrying distances, aiming marker that's free roaming and independent of club selection to increase the sim aspect). So even if you couldf totally disable the caddie, the true aim from TW11 is still impossible to play. They then replace it with a caddie feature that goes against everything that made true aim a success and to top it off they put it on every skill level giving the user no option but to use it or at the very least have to look at his shot suggestion which will influence your decison no matter what.

The caddie tutorial thread just opened by Steve even has EA boasting in there about how the caddie will do all the thinking for you and all you have to do is swing and this is an exciting new feature. Unreal.

This game went from a must buy to I don't know anymore. I cannot stand the caddy feature and feel handcuffed by it. Of all the years to mess with and tinker with the gameplay, EA chooses the year Augusta is finally in it. Last years game was awesome IMO. They should have left well enough alone.

i totally agree. i just need a Caddie "OFF" menu option. Can't believe they didn't think this through. And I just bought a PS3 and was stoked about this game with the move. ugh.

From the "Getting Along with Your Caddy" feature, posted as a sticky in this forum on 3/10/11 at 1:10 pm (pulled from the EA Sports blog):

Quote:
There are going to be times however where working with your caddie is going to be a little more complicated than that. You can always ignore him or simply turn off the caddie feature completely. Similarly, there are times where your guy just can’t come up with a shot for you and he’ll tell you so directly: “I got nothing here.” And let’s not forget about those Tiger Woods PGA TOUR fans who don’t need any help and who will take pleasure in actively ignoring his advice; the folks who want to hear his suggestions simply so they can NOT listen to it.
