I really liked how the swing felt in the demo, it's getting closer to Links.

I am having trouble putting though, it seems that it's way too sensitive and making short
putts is nearly impossible. Am I missing something? I tried on the PS3 and the 360 and it was the same on both.

I played the demo last night on 360, tried out everything it had to offer. The demo is totally caddie-centric, I agree with that...and I think featuring the caddie and the fairly scripted Augusta event was the aim of the demo, period. I thought I had read in a preview somewhere (maybe IGN) that the caddie would be an optional feature in the final game.

I won't assume, but I'm THINKING that when caddie is disable in the full version, that the caddie's suggested shots/percentage stuff will go away and be more like what we had in TW11. Again, I think the demo is just 100% caddie-centric and that's why the percentages are persistent.

If it comes to pass that this is NOT the case and I can't play True Aim like I did in the excellent TW11, I'll be returning the game for full credit. Until then, I'll wait and see.

Putting was interesting, kind of a new look, and the caddie was actually somewhat useful on the green. Simply doing what he said didn't guarantee my shot; the execution and precise aim is still required and wasn't ridiculously easy...but again, we'll see.

Again, this is just a demo...and a feature-centric one more than actual game-centric. I'll extend EA the benefit of the doubt until I can play the final version, which they earned from me with TW11 being so damn good. If it fails, it goes back and I go back to TW11 for another year.

You can play Tiger 12 with True Aim in effect, on both the PS3 and 360 versions. If you set the difficulty to "Tournament", True Aim is on by default. If you're playing the 360 version with the Move enabled, you have the option of using a first person view (roughly akin to the Wii's version's "True View", in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12). I really like the first person view with the Move, especially in the putting game where you aren't dropped to a knee-high camera at the moment of impact. The camera stays in the golfer's eyes and you get a much more realistic look at the putt as it rolls toward the hole.

Just left the EA boards. A couple of the game developers have posted today. Here's what they said...

First the good news (from developer CamleeEA):

"I think that point is pretty clear now so a continued debate as to the merits of it (caddy) lacks any real substance. As we do with almost all of the suggestions we get here and from a variety of other places we will investigate the possibility of making some tweaks and changes to how things currently work and if we decide that it would be the best thing for the game and the entire gaming community (not just the people who come here) then we will do it."

Now the bad news (from developer TibMikeD):

"I just wanted to jump in here and clarify a bit. The functionality to DISABLE the caddie in the demo is the same as it will be in the final version of the game. The functionality you are currently seeing when he is "disabled" is what you will see in the release version."

Oh, that's not good....

Re: Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 12: The Masters Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here

I thought the demo was pretty solid.I changed the player view to True Aim, ignored the caddie, and it played fine. Disabling the caddie would be a wonderful option, and I would hope it will be an option in the retail version. Be nice if it was confirmed soon.....cough EA....cough!!!

Augusta in itself warrants my purchase but I think with a nice amount of courses, Tournament difficulty, President's Cup, and the career mode are going to make it a great game. If the Move support is solid, and I have every reason to believe it will be, it will make it that much more fun!

I do understand the displeasure of some though, and like you all said, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

It isn't just the caddy, but lack of yardage markers, the view system is difficult at best (tough to see your approach). Everything about it just seemed to be in the way of me enjoying the game.

I thought the way they did true aim with the various yardage markers in TW11 was extremely realistic (and that's really what a real caddy would be telling you - x to carry the water, y to the front of the green, z to the pin, etc).

What's the point of true aim if you don't have the complete yardage markers. I could really care less about the caddy deal. If it's there it's there but if I don't have yardage markers with true aim the sim aspect of the game is completely gone.
