The ones that Jayhawker talked about in his post, where they went from 3 step pitching to the easier two step mechanic, along with the step mattering in the hitting to it not mattering now. What I was saying is, if they wanted to keep everyone happy, they should have kept the 3 step pitching in while offering the easier two step pitching as well etc. like SCEA is doing by adding in analog controls all the while keeping the old controls as well as tuning the old controls as well.

Edit: will try to keep on topic going forward, especially since as I play this demo more, I'm enjoying it more with each game.

To answer #1, I think it's fair to say that they removed three-step pitching and two-step hitting and "forced" us to "down-grade" to a dumbed down version of both. They also removed "zone" (cursor) hitting as well as the the R-Stick throwing from 2K8 in which the user controlled the direction of the missed throw as well as the height. (I know R-stick throwing is still there, but it's not as immersive as it was).

I guess you can call these modifications, but the bottom line is that what many think were great systems are no longer available whether it's due to modifications or removal is really just a technicality.

I do think they monitor these boards for our ideas as well as complaints, but without interaction, you're not really getting into the head and hearing the details of many of these ideas...they get a basic idea and then after that it is up to them to interpret what the user was really invisioning or trying to portray.

A two way conversation is always going to be more productive than a one-way conversation and without them asking questions about our ideas, they are left to fill in the blanks based on whatever criteria they are using.

ah, I forgot about the 2k8 throwing. They had the idea down back then, it just needed some fine tuning, and then they scraped the whole thing... shame

I never was a fan of the 2 step hitting though. It just never felt natural to me. In real life, when you're hitting, stepping is all part of your natural reaction, not something that you have to think about before you swing. At least for me, when I'm up at the plate I don't think about my "step timing" and then think about my swing. I think about my "swing timing" and the step comes naturally. Timing when you're up at bat is a 1 event process to me as opposed to the 2 in 2k8.

But otherwise, I sorely miss the 3 step pitching and throwing in the field from 2k8

Need to play some more, but:

(1) The lower camera angle after batted balls is AWESOME. Such a simple fix that makes you appreciate the trajectory of the ball. Too bad they couldn't get a rid of the "ping pong paddle" bat sound effect.

(2) I think fielding has to be better in this version than 2k10...at least there is a GAME there. There seem to be tons of new animations, though I wonder if some of them are overused or will feel repetitive. Even the possibility of errors and the chance of an overcharged throw gives you something to think about. The question will just be if it's poorly implemented.

The visuals have their limitations, but ultimately that doesn't bother me. One thing that did annoy me was some of the framerate hiccups as you'd switch from one view to the next. This is analgous to the Madden 11 thing where you hear the ball hiked, but nobody moves for a second.

after loving the show demo, i expected to play this and pretty much have no funa nd turn it off and delete it within five minutes.

but i seriously enjoyed it. the pitching is great, and the main thing i HATED from 2k10 (the fielding) now really feels nice and smooth. executed a double play and it felt great.

the batting is good too. overall there is much to complain about, add in better commentary annd proper training modes to get used to the game and i can imagine this being a great fun game for the year (why i will get it on pc for sure)

moving out soon and wont have ps3, so im very happy this has provided and fun and playable alternative to the show at least until i can afford to get it later down the line. plus pc mods and rosters and sliders and edits etc. should all add to more a realistic experience if the 2k devs cant get it themselves.

definitely up there with MVP now, if it wasn't for the perfection that the show is everyone would be much more excited about this game. much better than i was expecting

As for the Analog Hitting Process, the reality is the Step-Influence wasn't done very well even with a slider for it. To the point as Jayhawker said people would 0 the slider out.

You can say VC has tried to appeal to a broader audience & I will agree with that. I also will say they may have scrapped stuff that was already in place to try & re-do the whole series & put their personal stamp on the title.

I agree that some of the things that were in the series before VC took over should have stayed & been refined. But we also should consider stuff may have needed to be taken out due to code, when they decided to take over.

I don't know if you downloaded the same demo we all did, but the graphics look a lot better this year. Better color saturation, less jaggies and better player models. I'm playing it on the 360. When I get home tonight I'm going to download the ps3 version to see the difference.
