Same old Show......which is an excellent thing! Tried the analog hitting and pitching for a bit and don't like it. Never liked it in 2K either. I'm happy with the good old meter system and button hitting.

Also seems like they toned down the hits which should make for good stats throughout the year.

Had a walkoff HR with Sandoval to win the game 1-0 in 6 innings.

Have a great story just from the demo. One thing MLB does better than all other sport games is giving you great stories lol.

I was the giants losing 1-0 in the bottom of the 4th. So 2 out with Tejada up to bat. He hits a single straight up the middle. Sandoval comes up i swing at the first pitch and miss. I end up working the count to 2-2. Using contact swing i was fouling a lot of balls off. I know Lincecum was up next and really did not want Sandoval to walk. WELL Wilson the SA hits me with a pitch.

Sandoval on 1st and Tejada on 2nd. Lincecum up to bat. I knew this wouldn't end well and i always have the habit of getting it going when the pitcher is up to bat lol. Lincecum goes up 2-1. Wilson throws a FB up high. I swing make perfect contact and it drives Tejada in. They ended up bringing in a sidearm pitcher and i can not hit sidearm pitchers. Really need to work on that.

I ended up losing the game cause they were able to bring in a pinch hitter. He 1st ball swung and drove in the guy on 2nd base. Was frustrating to lose that way. That game was on All Star with everything analog. It felt good to be competitive with those settings and its only been two days so with some more practice i should start winning games.

Same as every year.

I'm an ace on the mound but can't hit a ball if my life depended on it.

I just played a demo game, lost in the bottom of the 5th.

I struck out 16 times .... I had 3 baserunners - all from Posey dropping the ball behind the plate.

I only grounded out once (double play), the rest were strike-outs.

As far as me on the mound? I had 9 strikeouts and gave up 1 hit (all-star) .. the only reason I lost was because I'm not used the analog throwing buttons. I had a routine grounder, went to throw to first and threw it home.. right over the catchers head. Struck out the next guy. 3rd guy gets a single and wins the game.

Re: MLB 11 The Show Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here

I just finished playing a few games using all analog controls, all set to LEGEND, with Throw Cancelling On. Here's my impressions:

Pitching is by far the easiest part of playing on Legend, it actually didn't feel too much different. There seemed to be less room for error but for the most part the ball went where I wanted. I actually didn't give up many earned runs.

Hitting was very hard (I hit decently on All-Star). The PCI simply would not line the ball up well enough (The PCI becomes very small). It wasn't broken because I made good contact occasionally, but the good results were few and far between. This is definitely for someone that masters the Analog Hitting as you won't ever have any consistent success otherwise.

Fielding on Legend is not really fun. You have to be so perfect with your throws as even my yellow circles resulted in an error almost every time. I understand it's supposed to put you in control, and since I have it set to Legend I expect a challenge. However, I'm not too sure how I feel about the ease it is to mess up such routine plays. Legend Throwing will probably be the most fun with your buddies in a multiplayer setting.

All in all... I think some people wanted more difficult options this year, and I think we got what we asked for.

Have I mentioned how improved the fielding is? It seems that there are just a lot more possible outcomes between completely missing the ball and fielding it cleanly. I've already seen an outfielder smother a ball on a dive. Today I had an awkward check swing with Andrus and hit a little dribbler right back at Lincecum. He did kind of a casual scooping motion but ended up just swatting the ball back to the catcher. Very nice. I also noticed that there's a lot less suction, I ran right through the ball marker on one fly ball. Also, this may be new or I may have imagined it, but once there was a shallow fly ball just foul down the third base line. I was racing in with my LF and I think the circle under him turned red and the ball marker disappeared. Is it possible that fielders can lose sight of the ball during a full sprint? If so, that's pretty awesome.

Except the catcher.

I've played 6 innings so far and I've probably seen the catcher drop the 3rd strike 10-12 times (having to throw out the runner). A little annoying.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but...

The "dropped 3rd strike" has been toned down in the final build.

I think it really depends on your pitching style. If you throw a lot of low pitches that end up in the dirt your frequency at which you will see it is going to go up. I have not played the demo a ton but did not see it as a potential problem in the games played.
