Re: MLB 11 The Show Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here

Just got through playing one game and I definitely like the way this year's iteration plays. At first when I heard about the analog controls, i wasnt all too excited since I never really liked the way that analog was implemented in the other game. However, I figured what the hell once the demo finished installing. I chose all star difficulty across the board (Fielding/hitting/pitching) . After a few innings, I started to get the hang of analog pitching. Hitting and fielding will take some more time to get used to but i think im going to stick with it and hopefully, through practice, get more comfortable with analog hitting and fielding.
I might try lowering fielding to the veteran level since that was the default setting i think.

For analalog hitting, I will need to work on my timing and figure out when to start my step. Also, im not sure if this was mentioned, but how to you choose power or contact?

The player models, lighting, and stat overlays were top notch. Can't wait to see what Yankee stadium looks like

Love the demo.

Wanted to mention one glitch in 10 that seems to still be in 11. When you come to the plate, before the pitcher throws, you can trigger the pre-at-bat check swings by either pressing X or pushing up on the analog. But if the pitcher is going to pitchout, the game won't go into that pre-at-bat-animation. Not sure how to describe it better, but it tips you off whenever a pitchout is coming. Hopefully there's a way to fix that, because I hate knowing that the pitchout is coming.

Love the new analog and hit physics, though!

Lol. I love how you say this like it's fact. Especially when there are clearly a much larger group of people that would disagree.

Just sayin'

I was impressed when I did a replay and I took a look at all the players... and just going through the Giants bullpen, I could pick out who's who by just looking at their faces.

Good work on the player models.

Hit back2back2back homers with my 1st 3 at-bats in my first game. Won my first game 14-11 in 12 innings on a walk-off grand slam with Andres Torres :O. Lost my second one 7-5 in 7 innings, When Elvis Andrus hit a 2 run homer. Helluva game so far.

Analog pitching: Very hard to hit my spot. Got the hang of it though.

Analog hitting: I have gotten the hang of timing my step and mixing contact and power hits in different situations. There were times I was hot and cold at the plate. Had one at-bat that lasted 14 pitches, until I got a double.

I'll start with the positives:

+ The crowd is a lot more varied
+ The new controls are a nice addition
+ The fields do seem larger
+ There are some cool new animations and cut scenes
+ Player models look better and the graphics are a bit sharper

- The game feels very much like '10 with new controls. Felt very similar and frankly I was rather bored after a couple innings.
- The commentary which at one time was a strength is the number one weakness
- Nothing screams excitement anymore about the game

There's really not a whole lot that jumped out at me. For the last few months, I've been anticipating this game. Right now, I'm strongly
considering renting it through Gamefly and seeing if it catches my long term enjoyment.
Yeah, unfortunately I kind of agree. I may need a change but it does look dam good!
