Re: Fight Night Champion Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here (360, PS3)

nice writeup tcrews agree with a lot of your assessments. I've been doing the same thing as you training different areas of my game against the CPU. Some fights I'll just practice blocking and head movement and not even throw 1 punch, or working the jab, or moving in/out, etc... Def has helped out.

I also play all 4 boxers in rotation, but 1 thing that surprised me is how few fight ending flash KO's you've experienced. I usually fight pretty smart and you may just be a way better player than me but if I had to estimate I'd say at least 25% of my fights have ended in these KO's, most from Pacquiao who seems to always land a good shot even when I completely control the fight.

The more I play the less I wanna buy it. Online is rock em sock em robots, defense is crap, and don't get me started on Ali users online. If Ali fought in real life like the morons I face (I use both) he'd be dead or a vegetable. Ali had power, but not the power Brizzo and his crew is suggesting. He had a great jab and cross but not exactly 1 punch KO power like what's represented. The statement that long reach fighters are at a disadvantage inside is a total lie. With Tyson I'm getting beat up inside by Ali users. I have to counter to win. Working the body opens me up for head shots and don't drain stamina anyway.

I'm not playing crybaby, i win more than i lose. I 1 punched a guy today and body flashed another, so i'm having success, but why does FNRC have to be Ike-Tua all the time.

Visualizer - That's cool that you and I worked on the same things in the same manner. It took me awhile to stop caring about winning and only work on one or two specific things. I like your idea of not throwing any punches and to just work on blocking and head movement. I think I might have to try that

As far as the flash KO's go I've dished out 8, but I didn't mean to imply that I was never on the receiving end. The CPU has flash KO'd me 5 times now. I don't know if that's above or below average or whatever. But I assure you I'm honestly not all that great at the game. I still have a very, very long way to go before I would consider myself marginally above average.

If I had to guess the reason that I've experienced "so few" flash ko's. I would say for one, it's a fairly random occurrence. Secondly, early on after I got the demo, I was winning huge, I had knocked down Cotto once in the first, twice in the second, and once more in the third. With 10 seconds left in the fight I started throwing power shots because I was destroying him so badly I felt invincible. Can anyone figure out where this is going? Yeah, with 3 seconds left, he hit me, one punch KO, goodnight.

After that I made sure to focus on defense every second of every fight. So I've been fortunate to avoid it. Up until earlier today I had only experienced one or two, but then I fought Tyson a few times and he flash ko'd me three times in a six fight span. Which is cool, I expect that from him.

Since you and I seem to be on the same page, you wouldn't happen to know the answer(s) to the two questions I asked at the top of my post that you responded to, would you? Just curious. Do you have PS3 or 360? Once the full game comes out, if we have the same system we'll have to spar a bit and fight. I'd rather fight people I know, or people from these boards that I know are much less likely to do all that crazy exploit crap. I'm on ps3 btw.

I'm enjoying the demo a lot. Not nearly as critical and anal as most of you who've posted. Then again I see myself enjoying the final version, especially legacy.

to answer your questions

perfect block is achieved the same way it was in FNR4 by timing your block so it blocks the punch at the last possible second which will freeze ur opponent. I dont play Fight Night online much and dont really plan to much with FNC so I'm not one of those guys that feel the need to master it so I can win. I'm hoping the freeze is removed eventually with tuning or an official patch.

As far as the Tuner Set, it was released for the 360 demo yesterday, a message should popup on the main menu instructing you to press Y to download it. I imagine the changes aren't final for the retail version as they will prob use data from pre and post tuner gameplay to mold a brand new tuner set to be ready for the game's release.

I'm on 360 btw, If I am looking for some matches when the game drops I'll let you guys know then. For now I'm not really interested in playing online even against peeps from OS.

Re: Fight Night Champion Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here (360, PS3)

I'm on PS3 so I guess we won't be playing whether you end up playing online or not, haha. Truth be told though, I'm a lot like you in that regard. I played Round 4 online for a cumulative 6 hours. Aside from 1 or 2 people, everyone I played fought like complete idiots. Spinning their upper body 360 degrees repeatedly, only throwing haymakers, or fighting with maxed out cabs. It was easy enough to beat them, but never actually fun. So I'm offline about 98% of the time.

The reason I asked about the perfect block/counter punch is that I was all but certain that had to be it. However, the timing just seems...off, I guess. If I'm trying to land a perfect block, I couldn't be more off if I attempted the same with my eyes closed. Whenever I'm not attempting to achieve a perfect block, and am just holding down the block button, I wind up with a counter punch opportunity off the "perfect block".

It's absurdly confusing, yet follows the same pattern every time. If I'm holding block and the cpu fires off multiple punches. As soon as their first punch "connects" and I fire off a punch of my own, a counter punch registers. If I try to time it, well, to make a long story short, I've yet to register a counter punch off a perfect block when I attempt to time it. Kinda baffling.

LOL...I take Cotto 'cause i got Tonnney Montana in my corner seriously, did they use Montana to do the voice overs...naaah anyway, just bobbed & came up w/ a left hook that resulted in a 1 punch KO to Pacman...it was sweet Also, KO'd Ali w/ a 1punch KO from Tyson's close range LHook...LOVED IT!

Also. noticed not much depth in the cuts...hopefully this is because of the demo. Phobia, did the cuts look deeper @ community day? thanks
