Re: MLB 2K11 Developer Insight #1 - Marketing Looks Back at MLB 2K10

this is ridiculous.

Those who don't like the game/want to see it fail, use this Developer Insight as ammunition to slam the game.

Those who like the game/want to see it succeed are defending the game against the the unfounded assumptions about the game.

And those such as myself who are just looking to read information about the game and the unbiased opinions of fellow posters have to weed thru the nonsense.

Seriously guys....seriously.

Well in all honesty this does not mean that the game will suck.....Maybe they really have a lot of good info to tell us so that their first developer insight can be like this ....So we shall wait and see...

Actually "we" do for Madden. I'd argue Ian Cummings is more a superstar around here for his interaction and telling people what they want to hear, versus what Madden really is (or should be). Regardless, as a consumer I'd like to see 2K match 989 or whatever they are now info release for info release. Ultimately I realize it doesn't make much difference, given that's it's still relatively early. This happens every year - the minute company A releases info, forum members start clamoring for company B to do the same. If they were to release info for the next two weeks solid then go dark before the game released, they'd be faulted just as much. 2K put out a ridiculous amount of info for NBA2K11 and they did so consistently. And STILL people were saying "I need to hear [what I find to be most important] before I'll pick up the game. I want to hear info, but it is still relatively early. And don't see the need to be reactionary.

Speaking in terms of what we KNOW from the developer blog instead of assuming the worst, I do like the idea that they moved the Perfect Game Challenge back to April 1st. I believe that it will get more people involved and not limit anyone who may not be able to purchase the game upon its release.

I'm not sure about lowering the age of eligibility to 13 though. I don't remember what it was last year, but I would think 13 year olds have an unfair advantage since they have no work, and very limited household responsibilities.

I agree, having it on opening day will actually make for an interesting spring. Although, I'm sure they had no idea someone would nail it on day one.

Personally, I never set up a camera and even tried. But I may actually give it a go. There will be a lot more buzz on what team to use to pull it off, as you will have to use an opening day starter vs. whatever team he is facing. I'm guessing the Rays will be a good team to try to shut down.

LOL...I'm not sure they thought that anyone would accomplish it.

It will be interesting to see if someone can accomplish this again, and if so, as quickly as it was last year.

Every year this series begins releasing info mid to late Jan. That's just how 2k markets this game. Seems to me nothing has changed.

Next week they'll release an insight & people still will find something to complain about. Why because its not what they expected.

Expectations man they are a .........

And the game will be as good or as bad as it was going to be, regardless of what they release.

It's funny. I am anxious to read abut what the devs have been working on, and if there are some new features. I really like the gameplay videos that will come out at some point. But I sure don't look forward to the forums when they do.

Right now, Shift 2, TW 12, Fight Night Champion, and MLB 2K11 all come out in March. I think I will survive no mater how much info gets released. It's a great time to be a sports gamer.
