Those doom and gloom comments are justified, particularly regarding the ball physics. You can't honestly tell me they didn't need serious improvement, especially iron shots.

It would be nice if EA respected golf fans and actually made a sim golf game for once instead of catering for the annoying casual crowd all the time.
Looking at the live stream it looks like the exact same game except it's the Masters' edition. The commentary is the exact same lifeless commentary as before just with Nance there instead. Feherty uses the exact same lines he's used before when he's done the other editions. I honestly believe he didn't even come into the studio to record new audio.

Career mode might be expanded with amateur and Nationwide but I'd be suprised if it's not the same sterile environment where you feel like you're playing against a scoresheet. Even one of the devs in that video stated that he made some career mode tweaks. Tweaks does not sound like major improvement. When they got excited over the fact they they changed the color of the green grid lines you know not to expect much in terms of real gameplay changes.

Watching several holes with that caddy mode already got annoying and I think most of us would be turning that off after a few hours.

Obviously they had to rush this out to coincide the release date with the actual Masters itself so you know there wouldn't be major changes but just having Augusta and able to use DL couses (which you're still paying extra for and should have been done years ago) in career mode does not excite me greatly. They really need to greatly improve the presentation in career mode.

This went from a must buy 2 hours ago to a definate maybe after watching that video. Having the Masters is great and I didn't think that would ever happen but that that will get old pretty quick. You can't hang your hat on the only major improvement being that you added Augusta.

What exactly is wrong with the ball physics?

What's not wrong with the ball physics! In real life the ball does not fly in a perfect arc, when a good golfer strikes a ball it climbs upwards to it's highpoint then drops steeply. Many people are not aware that a professional golfer hits all their clubs the same height (driver would be the exception) a 3 iron would reach the same height as a 9 iron, but just further along. I could go on about how bad the ball spin is for another two pages.

The game of golf is all about the ball, and if you can't capture accurately how it actually flies through the air and reacts when it hits the ground, that's not good enough IMO, especially after all the years they've had to work on it.

Sorry, but I disagree. In TW11, you could watch the arc of your ball with the blue tracer in TrueAim and I hate to tell you this, but the ball flight was NOT what you describe above as "a perfect arc". The ball flight in TW11 is like your second comment, especially noticeable in TruAim with the ball tracer on.

As far as ball spin, it hasn't been perfect, but certainly not a show stopper at all. Can't say I buy your argument that the ball physics are so bad, but then again everyone is entitled to their opinion......

The bolded part sums it up nicely.

I'm suprised you had to ask the question DivotMaker. The ball seems to travel on a pre-determined path as well, so we the same shots all the time. There's no randomness to it. It never feels like "this could go anywhere" when I play TW, and it should because that's what real golf is like.
