Re: Madden NFL Designers Podcast #4 w/ Special Guest, Pasta Padre Available Now

i'll be happy if atleast they fix these offline franchise issues:

1.Drafting Logic and better pre generated drafts no 6-0 200 lbs Quarterbacks and if there are make them few and far between (ex. Vick, Brees, Daniel, Smith) and better rated players
2.Progression - Basically get rid of it, use performance based progression like before
3.Can we say create-a-team names - i don't think this will ever be addressed however they could do what 2k does and give suggestions so for example pre-record like 50 big cities that dont have nfl teams and so if we use those cities they will say them. same thing with the team names i know that if i make the team Los Angeles Mother F#$%&%S it shouldn't say that

If they atleast do that i'll be satisfied. not done but satisfied but only if they can fix gameplay, give me great gameplay and this year's franchise with those fixes il be fine

When they say a complete overhaul of offline franchise it scares me. everytime they bring drastic change theres always the chance it could be ruined

Oh, I thought this the best podcast yet and I actually kind of felt bad by being a bit negative on that post, but I have been down a bit on Madden because I have already lost interest in '11. It is disappointing to me because I would like for the game to last through at least the nfl season, if not all year.

At first, I was against buying the backbreaker tech because I understand what starting over would mean and I thought that this could be more of a "next gen" thing. That is until MS and Sony decided to push this generation out to like 8-9 years. I don't think either of them are in a rush to get a new system out so maybe the time to make a change is now instead of later. I think with Tibs football knowhow and a powerful Natural Motion Engine, you guys could get back to competing with the Call of Duty's of the world.

Total offline Franchise player here.

things have gotten better each year and the team has shown a HUGE commitment to work with and listen to the community.

I have faith that Madden 12 will be a great improvement. thanks, Ian and co.

i didn't think you could ruin something thats already ruined. without taking chances, madden will never be a revolutionary game, it will always be years behind the other sports titles and thats just sad.

After listening to that it just seems like the team has no direction. You clearly see that they are puzzled on what sector to focus on for future Maddens. It really pisses me off that they dont just know to try and just represent real football in the game. Make it as REAL as possible (however you have to do that) and everyone will love it.

On top of that, Pastapadre, a respected game "critic'' whatever you call him has the golden oppurtunity to actually talk one-on-one with the dev team and he doesnt give any concrete, or specific wishes.

Ian: Hey Pasta if you could just imagine what Madden NFL 14 would look like? What would you picture? What would love to see in a future madden game down the road?

Pastapadre: I dont know. Just make it more social. increase the social aspect. just make it better all-around.WTF

Why can't he just say something meaningful? Its not about features. Sure all the features from previous gen would be nice, but its about core gameplay. Pastapadre could have said focus on tackling, or improve wide-receiver/ cornerback play, or just bring back the fun on defense. ANYTHING SUBSTANTIAL. But I did listen to it last night and I dont think he mentioned anything specific that the team could focus on.

Oh next year we'll have GAMEFLOW 2.0 !! Oh yeahhhhh!!!! Pitiful.......

~Avoid the gimmicks as that is what Madden has come to be known for.
~Avoid dummying down the game for those who really don't care. To us Sim vets it becomes not only frustrating but an insult.

Year to year there has to be improvements instead of removing features that many of come to love. You don't have to have a huge staff or tons of money. NFL 2k, NBA 2k and MLB The Show never had a huge staff to understand what the gamers want. This is where I believe the staff of EA have lost touch and instead went after the wrong market. Madden was built on being a fun, challenging Sim.

"EA Sports...it's in the game." Those days are gone thus the hit in the consumer market. The key aspects are what people look for:

The main parts:

1) Offense
2) Defense

The presentation parts:

3) Dynamic commentary
4) Changing weather
5) Pre, halftime, end shows

Graphics:

Put me down as one who could care less about the graphics and more about how the game plays and feels with presentation. Play the above listed games and you will see what is being or was done right. It begins with the right game plan and then successfully implementing it without the hype and gimmicks that gamers have become tired of.

Merry Christmas Ian, staff and OS families!

Well said, my man. lol. Just focus on the basic aspects of football and people will love the game.

I actually listened to this podcast, not entirely though, probably missed the last 10 mins. But the overall tone and feel of the podcast was alright. These guys are down to earth gamers just like we are, they're striving to not only create an awesome football game because of the fans, but also for themselves.

Like dannyr326 said, it was sort of sad not to see a specific direction being taken, but i'm pretty sure they know what they want to do and have already started on that, its just us the fans who aren't aware of it just yet. I would love to get a look at the daily meetings or conversations that go on in those offices just for the fun of it.

Enjoyed the podcast for what it was. Hope that we can get an OS guy involved in the future.
