They're going to have to merge those down and distance situations with the offense's personnel because you have to defend four wides differently on 2nd and 5 than you would on 3rd and long.
I'd contend that they only need to resolve the defect they introduced with a patch that broke GamePlanning for multiple teams (including CPU controlled teams).

I'd be perfectly fine with the same exact GamePlanning, but bug-free, and I'm sure many others would be as well. To remove the feature entirely would be a disgraceful waste of development time.

And they won't remove it because it was Madden's suggestion to implement it.

The fact that the feature isn't as useful as the offense is already disgraceful. It doesn't make any sense not to account for down and distance on defensive play-calling, and I'll doubt that we'll ever see it considering how much more situations that will need to be added.

IT IS DECEMBER, WE HAVE TO BE CRYPTIC. If you are the type of guy that is going to get fired up about not enough talk about specific improvements, then I suggest you don't listen to the podcast.

- Nowhere in the podcast are we saying it's going to take multiple years for you to see any improvements, or that 12 won't have any. See point above, and I can say we have been working on Franchise improvements for some time now.

- "And as far as that "cant make drastic improvements in one cycle" BS....". Where did we ever say that? I 100% believe that drastic improvements can be made in one cycle.

- "I guess after these podcasts, it just looks to me like Madden isn't gonna be a game I'm gonna ever like on these consoles." Does that statement seem a little ridiculous to anyone else? After a podcast that discusses ZERO REAL FEATURE ADDITIONS you aren't going to like Madden, EVER? I always hoped that this forum would eventually be a great place for feedback and ways to improve the game, not the sensationalist extremism that it can quickly descends into.

- There is nothing more frustrating to me than people not actually listening to the podcast but jumping on the opinion bandwagon of another. Please guys, we are spending the time planning and recording these SPECIFICALLY for the Madden community...you could at least give us the respect of listening to it and forming an opinion of your own.

Maybe we should just stop doing these for a while if too many people aren't able to cope with the lack of real information and turn that into a negative thing. That's not what we want out of these at all...we just want to give people a behind the scenes look at the development process and decision making. Thoughts?
I tell you what Ian, first you are right, people should not jump to conclusions, but my experience with Madden has not been good for so long I do have to question EA and their intent. Do they REALLY want to build a great simulation of NFL football? Or do they want to market Madden and make tons of money off the kiddos? I think both, but you guys seem to spend more time on the later.
NCAA11 came out of nowhere this year. You know a game is good when you think about your team and where you are in your season when you aren't even playing the game. The game is that immersive. Madden11 not so much. To be fair I gave up on Madden11 so maybe I didn't play it enough. It just seemed stale to me. I wish you luck and hope someday you can bring Madden back like NCAA11 has been able to accomplish.

If you are gonna delete posts at least dont use a false reason. My whole post was referring completely to the podcast #3. The topic should be changed to Madden Podcast 3 (Constructive criticism banned)

Re: Madden NFL Designers Podcast #3

Idk I couldn't load the podcast, but from what im hearing it sound its goin to take them years to improve the game. Idk im not goin make any assumptions. But what goin to say is that im am disappointed by madden year after year. I used love madden back in the early 2000's. Ever since I got a 360 its been terrible. They took all the things I used to love (Owner mode, player roles, create-a-play, Mini canp, etc.). And add some terrible additions. Then I hear him (Ian) complainin about how people don't like the game or making excuses why it doesn't play right. Make a better product and shut up. You not supposed to alienate the customer. The first rule of customer service the customer is always right, any one who has a job know that. i dont care about little glitches or rocket catches, I understand its video game it not goin to be perfect. But I had to stop playing on all madden because small runnings back would break 5 tackles and go to the house. No matter how I statigize i never stop that (I been playin on all madden since 2003 this is the first year i stoped). The franchise mode is almost the same as 2003 just think about just add the extra point (which was better left undone) and its the same thing. The superstar mode is nauseating. The gameplay is sub-par at best. Dont think Im a not a ***** I almost never comment on these posts but im telling truth. This the first year i sold madden b4 the next came out and i dnt miss it. Madden is cool but not worth 60 every year

In closing, if you like madden buy it, im not about to be the guy to tell you not and really dont care, But i hope they change the game dramtically or I wait till 2013 to buy another football game if the nfl free up the lisence.
