Hi guys just had 2 quick questions.

1. How do you lean into a defender after you pump fake them into the air?

2. After a guy sets a pick for you, how do you get the player to cut to the hoop for the layup/dunk ( in other words, do a give and go).

Why is my player passing to a random teammate when I press the LB/R1 button when Icon Passing is enabled?

I mostly try to have Icon Passing on while playing and sometimes decide I want to run a play instead (by tapping the LB/R1 button) and what ends up happening is my guy just passes to someone I didn't want to pass to and it gets stolen. Why is LB being interpreted as a pass when it is not assigned to any teammate ... or is it? What's going on here?

I know I can cancel out of the Icon Passing ... but I'd like to know what is happening since I would have thought LB/R1 should have just cancelled into the Play selection mode.

HOLD the button you pressed when setting the pick. You'll see an icon above their head. Inside that icon are arrows, if you hold that button long enough, you will see an arrow animating and pointing towards the basket. Release it when that is set and they will go towards the basket. There might be another way, but that's the one I noticed through trial and error.

There really needs to be a Rookie/Newbie Q&A thread, this Q&A thread is too general, not to mention, lengthy at over 100+ pages. The Freestyle mode can only teach you so much and the instruction manual isn't very descriptive about what you really have to do for some of these "normal" moves like the give and go and pick and roll.

1. Push left stick in the direction of the airborne player and shoot.

2. That is called a pick and roll. Hold L1 and release it to call for a pick and roll.

It's not a dumb question, this is not intuitive unless you've played NBA2K before (which we both haven't it looks like).

- Tap the LB/L1 button
- Don't press any buttons yet, but find the player you want to pass to
- When you've found that player, press the button of that player AND hold the direction of the cut you want them to move towards on the LS

They should then move a little towards that direction.

The lead pass towards the basket, doesn't seem to work when pointing in the direction of the basket UNLESS that teammate is moving (this is the only way I've been able to see that lead pass to the basket made).
