NBA Jam to Possibly Feature Online, Released Before Holidays, Much More (PS3, 360)

The local sports radio station in Toronto, FAN 590, has a video game show every weekend called Got Game, and today they aired an interview with NBA Jam's Creative Director Trey Smith.

Listen to the podcast, right here. The interview starts at 15:40. They talk about various topics including licensing, selection process of the roster, and Remix tour (length of Remix Tour is 38 hours at the minimum!). At the end (25:50) he had this to say about the next gen versions:

Trey Smith: "I'll tell you, we're doing everything in our power to get as much on there as possible. I mean, we had online up. It was a really basic online feature set. We're trying to blow that out. And then you get Remix. We're trying to throw it all in there. Right now, I mean, we got this bomb dropped on us just a couple of days ago as well. So, we're shuffling to get everything together, but we got a great team. We got a lot of stuff up and working. We're going to polish it up, and we're gonna get it out there before holidays. And its really up to you. If you want to hang out with your friends and use gesture controls, you got it on the Wii. If you want to go online and you want that HD experience, you go on the PS3/360."

Not quite sure what the story is. We've known the HD version will have online for months, and remix tour as an add on to the HD version was inevitable.

Its a shame they won't update the rosters. When you only get 3 or 4 guys, its a harder pill to swallow when one of them isn't even on the team anymore.

I don't know how it is in the new Jam but I'm certain that in the old versions you could put any player on any team using special codes.

This just sucks...with the Walmart deal and the BB trade-in...I had NBA Jam down to $10. At best, this will be a $50 game...most likely $60. All I wanted was online.
