You can have both and a lot of both. Matter of fact I would say you cant have one without the other. People that want a sim just want realistic occurances at a realistic rate. Euphoria is a remarkable technology and Backbreaker utiilized it better than I could have expected but its still marks away from real life. You arent going to come close to real life anyway so dont shun realism. You are never going to hit that critical mass where the game is limited by realism. If you ever get close to that you will have a game of the year on your hands.

You will have more room for a creativity and a bigger sandbox with a more realistic game. You cant beat the depth of reality. You can see this with NHL and espeically Fifa. Many soccer fans didnt even take Fifa seriously until the scores were much more realistic. Its the same in basketball with shot percentages. Real shot percentages is something to be embraced. You are going to gain more depth and gameplay when you have a game thats balanced enough to force someone to play a dynamic game or thoughtful game to shot 45% to 55%.
Couldn't resist .. yep on that one. That's a tough call he made w that post up there on their strategic approach though. Plus man .. a lot of us grew up w this game. Survey your audience .. and I guarantee you'd find that a significant percentage of the buying majority would have taken the first option .. especially because the second is indelibly embedding in the first.
I'm not just looking to feeeel like Lebron James ... I got my own life.

I do though, want to employ strategies and tactics that are based on fundamental bball principles .... it is in the execution of those strategies that I want the talents on a given team (feel like Lebron James) to come thru.
But like the mod said man .. this is a forum for those looking for information on the quality of the demo. So I'll stop there ... I really hope it all works out though. Too much history there not to go out guns blazing ...
$100-$120 would solve that problem for me though.
Mod up there .. I'm done man. Promise

One could also argue that the first is embedded in the second as well. It was just a matter of priorities when a conflict arose or when managing limited dev time.

Thank you for your response.

After you had previously stated, about giving the fans the feel of playing basketball and give us the abilities to expect in real life basketball, I was thinking the Playstation Move or MS Kinect would have been a great way to showcase that as well.

Anyways, after switching from LAL vs Boston...I'm starting to get a better feel for the game in Legendary mode. I like the defense the most so far. There was a play where I was being posted up by a bigger player down in the paint and he tried to shoot over me, but then a help defender came and blocked his shot. That was pretty cool.

Are you saying the same thing, or do you mean in real life?

Once you get used to the controls, you don't really think about it either.

One situation is if you have a passing option to the right, you're dribbling with your right but the passing lane is cut off.

You may want to back up and move to the left a little while keeping an open stance and then make the quick pass once you've opened up the lane.

Another is to start moving to your left to draw in the defender, and quickly spin out to the left and leave him in the dust.

I know I could find youtube footage of NBA players dribbling away from their ball hand on the perimeter if I looked for it.
I'm saying that it's natural in rl and would be hard to have to consciously think to do it in a game. And although after my sixth game, it's easier to do, it still feels that I have to force myself to think about it. If you can dribble with either hand, your example is still uncommon. My left is terrible, but even I would move the ball to the other hand so that the ball is on the side to which my weight is shifted should I need to shrink my dribble (avoid a defender or pick up the ball to shoot or pass).

But that's neither here nor there. I just feel it's another mental "burden"(for lack of a better term) I have when the real game of basketball is rich enough. I would have to play a LOT of games to make it second nature. Too many.

I saw some nice contact in the paint. Had a couple of offensive fouls where the defender flopped. It looked different both times. I can see why a lot of people don't like it, but its got potential imo.

I like the shooting mechanic as well. Im still screwing up the gather and getting called for traveling though. It will take time to get the hang of it.

There are definitely things that need improved. I will put in some time with this game and see how it goes after a while. It may not be my game of choice this year, but imo its interesting if nothing else.

Lakers Vs Celtics gameplay. Still getting used to the controls as you will see haha
Pretty decent video. Saw a few cool things that hadn't been in a released video yet, like the tipped rebound.

One thing that did stand out to me as looking bad were the pro hops around the perimeter. I've never seen anyone do then as often as in the video, and they really look out of place. They were clearly captured as penetrating moves. We'll need to capture perimeter moves for next year.

On defense, try playing a little more physical and experiment with that a bit.

Once you body up on someone they won't be able to penetrate as easily.

Don't be afraid of overshooting the dribbler if you move towards him. Retreat, and when you feel the time is right press towards the dribbler to body up.

Takes a little practice but is very effective.
