I mean you guys built a new engine, right?..that has to take effort. IMO though, it was unnecessarily drastic. I don't think people want a new way to control an NBA video game as much as they want one which accurately reflects the league, looks authentic, and feels like an NBA game. The controls in Live weren't even that bad...they just needed some tuning. I apologize if I come off as rude, I just would have loved to see what you guys could have done if you had channeled all that man power into making Live even better.
I don't want to bash Live too much, but its reliance on two player animations was just too pervasive.

And that was the number one thing that needed to be fixed.

Go back and try Live after you've played the Elite demo long enough to get a good feel for it. That should give you an idea of what we changed.

You'll have to take my word as a developer for the difficulty in making the changes to Live.

AI is horrible.

I am a long time Live fan. IMO, Live 95 had better AI than this Elite 11.

Btw, check this vid out.

I'm scared how many more glitches we will have to deal with this year.

Oh yeah.....my impression....this game is not good. It gives me NBA 09 nightmares. Valiant attempt to give me something new but I like my bball games to be simulations. The graphics are horrible and I just cant get with the controls. Maybe I'm just stuck in my ways but this is too far out there for me.

I think it's fair to say that demos aren't complete versions.... we've seen various "reboots" over the years and they still had their charm. I remember mvp 2003 with the fielders auto diving and it seemed crazy but the crowds were great, the game play was innovative, and all 3 versions were still fun, imo. I hope elite is there too

So why not just fix the two player animations? Why make a complete 180 and turn this game around, when it really did not need it?

I know I'm a little biased (I was/am rooting for Elite) But I'm enjoying the demo. I'm on my third game now, and I'm liking it.

Yeah, there's some sliding and the graphics aren't up to par. But I'm loving the controls once I got a hang of them. Iso'n Kobe on the left elbow and posting up Allen never felt so good.

I like the perimeter contact, feels real good the contact in the paint is another story some weird things happening but I did see a cool tip dunk. Still trying to figure out the post game, I did a couple cool things with Shaq, don't know exactly what I did but it looked nice.

The feel, control and contact is winning me over right now. Especially on defense, I'm having more fun on defense then on offense right now, all though I keep forgetting how to switch players. Oh, and the playcalling I still LOVE Elites playcalling system.

The negatives just for those who want to know.
Some contact animations in the paint look a little funny,

some Sliding,

No turbo killed a Fastbreak opportunity I had with Nate. Ended up getting blocked from behind by Perkins.

Still only a few games in, as I was reading every one elses comments, but yeah. My impressions so far.

Just got your warning. I don't even know how the warnings work. But we can't make reference to other games on here .. is that why people keep saying "the other game"? Wooow. I didn't know that .. I normally would do the free speech this .. but this is you guys forum. You maintain these sites .. and give us a place for these types of discussions .. nuff respect man.

If you read my posts tho .. I'm acutally rooting for Elite and that reAnimator guy. I didn't think it read like the typically negative types of comments that start those silly debates.

But you do this .. I don't. I'm in Rome ... so I'll abide by the laws of the land. I'm just here enjoying my insomnia and having fun ....

@ Reanimator .. Red Dead is cool if you have the time man. It even sucked my girl in ... But I think I'm out growing games man -- these basketball gms are the last peice of my childhood I still hold on to.

Keep your head up fam .. u should get a medal of honor for this .. just laugh .. imaginary pound and keep it moving ..

Good stuff tho man.
