Re: NBA 2K11 Demo Available Now, Impressions and Discussion Here (360,PS3)

My main concerns with 2k11 were movement and playcalling and while I was satisfied with one part (movement) I wasn't really able to utilize the playcalling system (that glitch playcalling is not always accurate for me and is hopefully not how the final build will work). I liked what I played but I would have rather they released a demo a few weeks later with a fully functional playcallling mechanic at the least.

Also a little disappointed you can't use the fake pass while inbounding in the demo. Thought that would help online against full court pressers and steal button spammers.

Re: NBA 2K11 Demo Available Now, Impressions and Discussion Here (360,PS3)

I am absolutely loving the demo so far. I know it's just a taste and it definitely has me wanting more....way more.

Pulled off this nasty move on Ray-Ray with Kobe. Kobe finished it off with flush where he jumped off of his right foot and finished with a right-hand/2-handed dunk and hung on the rim until some traffic cleared. Freaking glorious!!

Using Kobe is so much fun. I can't wait to try other elite players and ballhandlers.

I also saw Rondo get crazy with a between his legs/under his legs pass while driving the lane that found KG for a high-arcing baseline jumper. So pretty.

I am also in awe of how deflections are done this year. On top of that, I have seen players catch or mishandle a pass and find themselves in more difficult position to make or take a shot or even make a move toward the basket. Subtle difference, yet a very important detail in the game of basketball.

AWESOME JOB 2K!! I am amazed at how this game plays and what it looks like.

Hold LT, flick the Shot Stick and let it return to neutral (like a pumpfake), then flick and hold it again before the pumpfake ends. You get different shots depending on your movement, facing, distance, and direction of your flicks.

If you're having trouble getting your passes picked, Total Control Passing will allow you to move your receivers around wherever you want. Unfortunately, it's disabled by default so you'll have to enable it when you pick up the full version. Personally, I can't play without it.

Too bad you guys can't change the diff. and game style... it changes the experience pretty drastically.
How's it hangin' Mike?

I gotta say I was really dissapointed Marketing took that out, an oversight IMO. The guys on here are gonna buy it, but the people not on forums trying to get a feel for what the game really offers will not get the full treatment.

It's probably in the best interest to leave total control passing, play calling in the demo because it adds so much value to the product. Also would have liked to see a longer quarter and an option to change difficulty. I only base this off other sports demos I played which give you a lot of content.

But thanks for the control tips, they really help those of us who can't quite grasp the nuances of IsoMotion.

I honestly can't get enough of this demo. Working on little things are helping expand my game. And, if people need help in this game, don't be afraid to ask other users here, because while reading others' posts, i have been able to pull off moves i couldn't figure out. Hope everyone else is having as much fun playing this demo as i am. What moves are you guys stuck on right now (by stuck i mean moves that you keep doing because you love them)? For me it has to be Kobe sizing up dribbling multiple times between his legs ala Jordan on Bird.

My favorite move is going baseline with Kobe, crossover on defender, and get the 2-handed jam hanging on the rim. The backup and fade is fun too.

Or pick and roll with Kobe and Pau, whoever the computer pressures the most I give the ball to the other player.

I also prefer Steve Blake over Fisher. Blake feels more versatile on offense, in both shooting and going to the rim. If I decide I want Blake in, I quickly try to foul out Fisher, then bring Blake in and basically give him all the shots. I really like Blake's jumper, it's money the majority of time but it's on Pro level so we'll see how it goes on Hall of Fame.

I haven't been able to:

Yeah, I just spin the stick real quick, from ball hand to off hand, w/defender on whatever side I'm spinning away from, while holding LT. I can do it on command when I'm going hard in one direction, then hold LT and swing it around quick-fast, he'll try and slide right around the defender. But for some reason I'm only able to pull it off depending on how much separation I have from my defender. If we're in a "contact" animation, I can't do it to break out of it though, I have to have some space first.

RubenDouglas, appreciate the tip, that was def getting me. Now that I can distinguish the hesi from the sizeup I'm having more success getting the defender to bite.

And maybe it's just Kobe, but boy do they bite! You can get so much space to drive or pull it if you get your defender to bite in one direction.

Just to be sure, you're talking about that particular move in the vid right? Cause theres a ball fake to fadeaway animation that looks similar but is not it. Thanks for the reply in any case.

Also not being able to do it with contact is strange. That move is almost dependent on contact in some cases. As we can see with Grant Hill in that vid.

Re: NBA 2K11 Demo Available Now, Impressions and Discussion Here (360,PS3)

Making progress with the isomotion, it's really all about when the LT needs to be pressed and when it doesn't. I've finally pulled off some insane stuff with Kobe, just need to do it a little more consistently.

Also had an awesome block with Kobe on a fastbreak. Rondo got a steal and was in transition, Fisher was side by side with him and bumped him a little as he attempted his layup and I was able to come from behind and swat it into the Celtics' bench. The control/responsiveness felt great.
