Re: NBA 2K11 Demo Available Now, Impressions and Discussion Here (360,PS3)

Ok I've played for a few hours and I'm not sold on this game yet.
It's fun, but theres problems with this watered down demo.

1. controls do seem to be sluggish / not liking the right stick on either end of the court.

2. way to many contested shots going in. And it doesn't matter if I time the jump block perfect or just put a body on them with a hand in their face, shots keep going in.

3. Lots of odd animations, not once but twice Kobe went in for a dunk and got fouled, continued the dunk animation and went all the way through the backboard and dunked with all the rim sound effects on the people in the first row. Thats just one example there have been many more.
4.Graphics are ok not great, I expected more after seeing the vid's from gamescon.

5. The crowd noise made my ears bleed/ I had to turn the sound way down, arena and on court sounds were nice though.

One thing I only saw once was KG got fouled for a an 1 and fell to the floor, got up pounded his chest opened his mouth and let out a big ahhhhh, pretty cool.

One last thing, it does seem better than past 2k games. AI,spacing, movement, passes being tipped and picked off, but it's just not as different as I thought it might be, but it is most definitely different....I'm just not sold on it yet.

i'm not impressed. no tutorial so i have no idea how to call picks or juke people with different dribbling mechanics. also, the shot stick is a total ****ing mystery.

and without commentary, the game feels boring. not living up to the hype so far.

3 points for graphics, 1 point for the passable commentary, and a half point for the boxart. I can give no further points since the all over the place gameplay would ruin it anyway.

Loving the demo, but a small gripe I have is that the ball is too shiny and has no detail. I hope they fix this it takes a little away from the immersion for me.

you must have downloaded a better demo than i did. i can't do any of the stuff you're doing.

they had to have known that a bunch of new potential buyers are going to be checking this out due to mj being on the cover. so i don't know why they didn't include a basic tutorial. i would have happily downloaded the extra gig, 2k.

2. Which it isn't. You seem to have a slant toward games and system, see things through those goggles of yours. There are some amazing 360 exclusive titles. To say the PS3 have some better looking exclusive titles is one thing. But "far superior"? Please.
dude really? every game is going to prot to the 360 better because it's like playing tic tac toe that's how easily it ports to the 360, porting to a ps3 is like figuring out the matrix the coding is complex as hell. but when there is a ps3 exclusive well made title it looks flawless on the ps3. good sides to both. this particular 2K game is alays better on the 360 always bums me out because the bball titles are my favorite titles of the year.

love how the CPU plays. much more realistic.

the only negative is how heavy the players feel.. when controlling Fisher it feels like you're controlling Shaq in quick sand. kinda wack but o well. 2k always sacrifies full control to make the game run smoother. that will never change I guess.

Kobe is plain nasty tho.

the moves have always been esoteric. theyre extremely contextual and 90% of users will never perform over half the moves in their life time.

Which is not good..

and which is why Im in favor of 1:1 control where its more intuitive and less complicated

To me, once you get the controls "down" this game is extremely fun.
