Are we going to limit people throwing up half court shots too? If I press the shoot button the player I'm controlling should attempt the shot no matter where I am on the court and I feel it should be like that with all things user controlled.
But nash and fisher can actually shoot halfcourt shots..

The dunking issue to me is even more pronounced because layups are a more complex input on the sticks while dunks are the same as shooting. I don't get how you can put the input front and center and not tune it realistically. If it is a difficulty level thing (like dunk distances and collision outcomes being factored less on Pro than Superstar) i'd still say its too much. I thought both basketball games shaved off a bit too much realism on default settings.

I like the way they're implementing the control. They are giving the user the ability to pull off any move with any player, you just have to kno the players abilities.

I mean Yao Ming could def. do a Euro step in real life, he could do it in a game too. But would it be efficient? Would it help the team? And the coach wouldn't allow it and probly bench him.

The fact is you have to kno how to execute the controls efficently just like an NBA player executes his skills efficenty. If a player plays unrealistically then that's their own fault, and they probly dnt know much about basketball.

im so glad dat people are gonna have to choose what shot to take at da right time.. and no more pre-canned animations determining what shot to take for me. i used to hate dat in nba live 10..when i just wanted a simple jump shot and dat dumb animation garbage would make me do a leaner or a fade-away without my permission and make me miss a shot lol ( dumb pre-canned animations ) nba live 08 was better than live 10 it was more responsive than live 09 and live 10 and it had post moves. live 10 was arcadish it wasnt skill based at all ....all u had to do is pick da cavs, suns, lakers, cel, nugg, and magics and hawks and hit da da shoot button! nobody never got da nets ,twolves, spurs or any other low caliber team u know why? because nba live 10 da stats and animations played da game for u it was already programmed dat the cavs or any other high rank team will win if played against a average team..lol my little 9 year old niece was beating people online with da cavs lmao ...lol and dont even get me started on mo will

I think shots outside of the dotted lines should result in tear-drops, floaters or double-clutch shots if there's not an open lane and/or it's not a fast break situation. That's if you decide to choose a "dunk scenario" by the combination of buttons. Should be tied to jumping and dunking rating. If you choose a layup, you obviously get the specified layups that are already implemented.

I hate to take away the "control" they're preaching, but at some point you have to sacrifice that for realism. If the scenarios are like I proposed above, it helps provide that authenticy that the game lacks and gets rid of these rocket, unrealistic dunks by anyone who chooses to attempt a dunk attempt.

Well they definitely will be in this game thats for sure. I was just looking at it from a perspective of how can we get the best represenation of bball for this game.

And it looks like that going to come down to user experience and overall basketball knowledge.

If one of the users is lacking in those areas the game is going to look faulty especially since the devs took out its only safety net(two player anims).

The fact that it takes that much to make the game look decent is a problem though and its something the team is definitely going to have to improve. Because to most people that is just plain unacceptable and I understand why they would feel that way too...

I agree completely. The point I was trying to make with Fisher was that they've already done this for players who can't dunk, so it isn't like it's breaking from the mantra of control when you limit the player to realistic options.
