I'm not in the group that supports giving everyone the ability and limiting the success rate. That said, the game does have a specific and separate dunk, layup, and shot control. You press towards the basket and Up on the skill stick and you will attempt a dunk. You roll up from left or right and you attempt a layup. You leave the LS neutral and it is a shot.

For those that are saying the problem isn't that Boozer attempted the dunk but that he made it, that is inconsistent with players that can't/don't dunk. Take Fisher, UP on the stick for fisher doesn't have him attempt a dunk, but a layup, why? Because he doesn't dunk.

So already there are context sensitive (as far as who is doing it) animation limits.

By the logic i'm reading from you guys, Fisher should attempt a dunk and get rim-checked instead. I can't agree with that. It makes more sense and is more sim to give guys packages that fit their real life counterpart than to let anyone do anything for the sake of preaching total control.

For the Boozer dunk, he should have jumped up in layup animation like what Fisher had because the game should know that he can not dunk from there. From there, physics should have led to a collision of some sort. The dunk range should be reduced but it makes you question the people playing this game everyday that we have to point that out. It's not like it's Ron Artest from the dotted circle, it's guys from the free throw line.

But you are right considering the conditions Boozer was is in it should have been a jumper or at least that leaning runner shot.
I meant separate buttons once upon a time Live had designated buttons for dunks and lay ups, I was pointing out the flaw in oOausarOo comment in saying he does not see a reason boozer should not attempt a free throw line dunk if the user decided to, because the user does not have an option to choose dunks, layup and shots because they are all controlled by pressing up on the controller the distance from the basket plays an important role in determining what happens as well as momentum.

You can control layups, dunks, and shots. As Tha_Kid said layups are up and roll to the right or left on right stick while pushing Lstick forward

dunks up on stick while moving Lstick forward.

And Jumpers are just up on right stick while left stick is neutral.

But you are right distance does determine what will happen especially on dunks. So that's why I said the dunk range and vertical needs to be toned down heavily so that things are more realistic in that specific situation.

If there is a different set of commands for dunking and lay-ups and I attempt a dunk with a Fisher or Nash I should fail not just automatically attempt a lay-up because thats the only thing they can do. To me that is control.

i was think that too, but then i realized that what i see in the videos, will be so close to what i would probably be on line because a majority of people dont care about Sim style gaming online, they just want to get a W (win) for their record, so it will be very similar to the videos i have seen, and im not feeling that at all, so i personally wont be getting the game, i will however try out the demo, if demo is great, i could possibly change my mind, but i highly doubt it, i believe online will look and play exactly like those clips, probably a bit cleaner, but same results

How so? If EA is selling control is it wrong to expect anything less? How is this not real basketball? If Nash attempted a dunk he would most likely fail just like he should if he attempted a dunk in Elite. The moral is dont attempted a dunk with a guy who can't complete that kind of dunk.

Just like with the quick vid of Bynum going behind the back and losing the ball same principle.
