Re: NBA 2K11 Video (possibly casual-mode): From the Demo at Gamescom

I see some great framework, even on casual, not much else....why people think the game would be presented @ gamerscom in simulation mode and on the hardest difficulty is beyond me...As far as court spacing...id like to see it when d wade isnt dribbling right next to his teamates lol

i play both games i enjoy the other more, just because the lack of contact, control, and defense in 2k... i mean there is always a dunk fest in 2k every year... I mean like i said i play both, but in my mind i dont find the GAMEPLAY great... thats what people think is great about 2k, but thats not it its the ANIMATIONS that make the game look good, that people like... Animations dont make the game play, the controls do game play means the person playing the game not the person watching the animation

On-ball d is definitely improved @ 1:33 and 1:38.
There should have been contact @ 1:43, but this is casual mode, so..
I love the scoreboard, much more TV broadcast-like than 2k10.
Overall this vid was pretty encouraging.

The Gamescon demo is set as default gamesim. I have been trying to capture some footage for you all the past couple days at sim level.
So default = Casual, or what?

Yes! I've been saying this for the past couple of months!! Finally someone sees the light!! lol

But in all seriousness:

The half court player spacing is fine as I see it. Being on a basketball floor with 6'8 220 all around you would be surprised how little space there is. I like that Dallas opened up in a 1-4 and showed some ideas of offensive spacing. Miami less so but the USER was running around like an idiot.

My major concern is they haven't addressed the length of the court. From 3pt line to 3pt line it looks and plays incredibly short. This looks worse than 2k10 for me. I don't know why but it does.
It's because of this my man: However, length/distance between 3-point line and halfcourt line is incorrect. Should be 5 feet longer.

Pause it at 3:28 Look at the length/distance between the 3-point line and the halfcourt line. Now compare it to 2K11 demo video. It's quite obvious.

It could be possible that the demo allows you to change styles then. Which wouldn't be impossible to believe. The NHL11 demo currently out allows you to change Game Styles as well.

funny all the talk of gameplay...who was the gameplay designer for Live last year? he was heralded to god like status and now that hes working for 2k again how quickly you forget...food for thought...
