I hope they've finally addressed the sim engine. I read all these gameplay fixes, and have yet to read something about fixing the sim engine. Having powerhouse teams like Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Philly, etc hardly make the playoffs or Crosby / Ovechkin struggling to get over 60 pts should have thrown up a red flag to the devs. Hopefully it's fixed.

I talked to Gurn about simmed stats/standings at the event. He said he sims seasons all the time to see how things play out, so it's definitely something they look at. Unfortunately, I was not able to do much simming at the event due to the early build we had.

I really hope this is fixed. EA's simmed stats leave something to be desired.

Did he say if they use their in-game engine to determine stats? Or is it all simmed using algorithm's?

We didn't get into the nuts & bolts of it, but I got the impression there is a separate sim "engine".

yeah just based on how programming works, I'd bet money on it being "seperate"

Same here, I wish they'd add stuff like adjusting how many actual in game minutes each game is simmed throughout the season like 2k10. I wonder if they share the code with the other EA sports titles? That could explain the stagnant progress of all of the EA games simming throughout the last few years.. For me though the #1 thing is having customizable season lengths, as I just don't have the time to play 82 games(and if the simming isn't realistic then what's the point) Hell I've only played 98 games total with my EASHL player in NHL10.

Re: NHL 11 Gameplay Fixes Addressed

Hopefully they have addressed the issue with guys online being able to just suck themselves to the boards to avoid hits.

Also the only issue I have with the poke check is that it's useless unless the blacde of your stick touches the puck. They need to make so if the shafts of the sticks hit that something happens instead of them just going right through each other. This issue is even worse when you see a guy deke through a defensemans stick 3 times on his way to a goal. That's where the loose puck dekes should come into play. Either you have to loose puck deke or tor drag to keep your stick outside of the defensemans reach.
