Alright, your Eagles are done. Let me know what you think...keep in mind that some of the older player like Vick may be readjusted because of age at the skill position (and sitting in jail). He may wind up closer to AGI, SPD, ACC, JMP equaling 94, 86, 96, 75...but it all depends.

here are a few i disagree with

trent cole - 87 i think he is a little low. he is a great player. maybe its not high because madden doesnt have a "relentless" rating? he has intangibles and a very high motor

sav rocca - 87 i totally disagree with this. sure he has a great leg, but his accuracy is extremely terrible. there were many times he had 20 yard punts last year, and sometimes it put the whole team in a tough spot

ernie sims - 86 dont know much about this guy. would have to ask a lions fan about him.. although i heard that he fits the eagles system VERY well and has been tearing up at camp.. but it IS only camp (NOT disagreeing, i just really dont know how good he is)

leonard weaver - 83 i think he is a little low. he is extremely versitile, can play fb, rb, and te. has above average speed and running skills for a fullback. i think at least 86 for him

jason avant - 80 i cant say i disagree with it, because i would put him at 82 or 83, but just wanna point out that this dude is the eagles go to guy on 3rd down because of his stellar hands (best on the team) and his ability to go over the middle

brent celek - 79 i disagree with this ALOT. this guy is amazing. i would put him in the top 10 te's in the league. not outstanding speed, but has great hands, and great route running. another thing is this guy is VERY hard to take down 1 on 1. many times last year he would drag one guy for a few yards before 3 or 4 other guys had to come in and take him down 5 yards after contact.. idk if that is implemented with any ratings in madden though

quintin mikell - 78 this guy doesnt make flashy plays or anything but he is VERY solid. i would put him in the low to mid 80's (maybe 83 84 ish?) this dude learned everything from dawkins.. one of the best safety in this era. mikell is very solid

jamaal jackson - 62 i know he just had a torn acl.. but pre injury i would put him at 85 easily. very good center, very smart, great blocker. but we dont know how he will be after injury

but other than that, good stuff. there were quite a few were i thought they were spot on

Another point you will have to remember is that injuries do affect the OVR rating. 90s are to be rare and 80s are to be solid starters that can win you games. Celek has not been a top 10 TE in either of the last 3 seasons according to PFF...the best was last year at 16th. Cole is still on the upswing and Rocca has the tools, but lacks some consistency. Since Madden rates on potential, we can't ignore his leg strength. Sims is rated as he is because of his awesome athleticism, which is part of how Madden rates players. Weaver may be versatile, but that doesn't count for much in Madden since you have to move him around. As a pure FB, where blocking counts too, he is about right where he should be. I am aware of Avant's talents...not the fastest guy, but great hands. NO drops last season I believe. Mikell was great in 08, but he isn't the most athletic, which hurts him.

Once again, if Madden would differentiate between Athleticism and technique/skill then some of these guys would be higher/lower. But since the attributes like SPD, ACC, STR, AGI, and JMP are included in the OVR rating, they are taken into account when calculating the OVR. I will not do what that guys at EA do and simply increase a player's speed, accel, etc...when he is playing at a high level. I think that is misinterpretation. Instead, they should up the skills that MAKE a player elite and not overcompensate by simply making them more athletic.

fair enough. i still disagree with celek though, you will see this year he is def a top 10 te. i agree though that madden doesnt differentiate very well between athleticism and technique and things like that

I suppose if Celek graded out better than only a 71 SPD that would help. His athleticism is just above the average for a TE though. As a receiver he is great...no doubt. He was the 5th best receiving TE in the league last year. The problem, which IMO justifies a lower rating, is that he was AWFUL in run blocking. When you consider that there were only 5 TEs that were worse than him in the entire league, you cannot grade him better. The TE position is a cross between receiver and blocker, and if you are only good at one, it will hurt your OVR grade. See Dustin Keller and Vernon Davis for other examples. Heck, I have Davis at only an 81 because he is so pitiful at blocking!
