Re: Madden NFL 11 Full Player Ratings: Miami Dolphins and New York Jets

In my opinion, you don't rate someone on how good they MIGHT be this year...you rate them based on how good they were last year. If that is the case, Sanchez is overrated. He showed some poise in the playoffs, but statistically (which is what should matter, right?) he wasn't very impressive...not at all.

With that said, I wouldn't mind if just about everyone took a 5-10 OVR hit...let's REALLY stretch out those ratings.

40s OVR for your below average NFL player...camp bodies, etc.
50s OVR for an average NFL player...players signed for depth, essentially.
60s OVR for a slightly above average NFL player...backups, role players, etc.
70s OVR for good NFL players...some starters, backups on strong teams...
80s OVR for great NFL players...Pro-bowlers, great starters, etc...
90s OVR for ELITE players...only a few of them. People that you would take with a #1 draft pick.

That's how I'd do ratings...I mean, on a scale to 99, 50 is the median...the average...so why not start there? Sure, it looks like an ugly overall, but it's average. The average shouldn't START at 65 or 70...let's make use of the whole scale, shall we?

Not every single player can be based off last years stats, especially when last year could have been an injury plagued season which then that players stats didn't match his true potential, or lifetime stats.

Same goes for very young players (1-3 yrs in the league). When you have young players who are still fulfilling their potential, you have to envision what they should be going a year forward. You admitted yourself that he played well in the playoffs. Well the playoffs are the biggest stage. Also, they were his most recent body of work. So that is what EA is going by.

Not to mention, lets not forget we get weekly roster updates, so if a player isn't playing well, or playing better, their ratings will change. Thats why it doesn't matter that much what they initially rate players, becuase they change throughout the year on the game of Madden.

In that case, Matt Moore should be rated 85 or so...he was lights out during his starts last year.

This is probably going to sound confrontational (not the intent here) but then why are you up here arguing for 4 pages that Sanchez isn't overrated?

No confrontation felt. I'm not arguing, just rebutting the guys bashing the guy and their comparison to Chad Henne. I feel Sanchez is an 82 right now. I don't think an 82 is a great player in Madden. But im not worried because like i said, we do get roster updates all year.

Re: Madden NFL 11 Full Player Ratings: Miami Dolphins and New York Jets

Where do I begin?

Henne is better than Sanchez. Sanchez was fortunate to have such a great defense and running game that he didnt need to do much. Especially with him throwing 20 INTs last year.

Bess at a 74? Really? He was Miami's best WR last year, should be at least 3-4 points higher if not more.

I'm sorry but Yeremiah Bell was in the Pro Bowl last year, an 82 is pretty low for a pro bowler.

I do like the love shown towards Starks, guy is a monster.

Save it Marino, you are a dolphins fan and have your opinion. I'm a Jets fan and have mine. The Jets are better than the Phins, and are going further. I'll keep my QB, you keep yours. Thats all there is to it. See you on the gridiron.

Let's just all agree that Matt Cassel is the worst starting QB in the league.
