Re: NCAA Football 11 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here

Firt, hello to you all ...

Second, I tried both demos and must admit I'm in a bit of a shock regarding the technical standpoint of the PS3-version.

The 360-version not only runs at 1080P (likely upscaled but who cares) and looks much crisper, it also runs much more fluid. The PS3-version has horrible stuttering, lousy blurry textures (midfield logos, jerseys etc) and microfreezes when you've selected a play from the play calling menu. It simply hangs for a fraction of a second and then goes on. It's absolutely horrible.

The 360-version on the other hand has far less jaggies and flickering (looks like better AA or at least some sort of AA where the PS3 version seems to go without), much better textures and none of those freezes.

I'm totally surprised to see such a huge difference between the two version. I wanted to buy the PS3-version (because I don't have 360 gold to play online) but the PS3 is pretty much unplayable.

Has anyone seen similar things?

Maybe I'm just getting old and my reaction time isn't what it used to be with video games, but the demo seems way too fast in my opinion. So far this game reminds me of Madden 04 in the sense that it moves a little quick and defense appears to be at a minimum. If the actual game plays like the demo, I'm worried about too much offense and way too many high scoring shootouts.

I'm the same way -- I think we're just getting old, man.

On launch day, I always jump into practice mode, offense only, and run up and down the field trying out all the controls and getting a feel for the speed of the game. After that, I can compete with all the young'uns out there.

Also, while not confirmed, it is believed that the version of the game I played in late April may have also been a newer version that what the demo was built on. Roy was going to look into this and let me know. To me, the version I played was light years better than the demo- and the demo is pretty darn good.

that's really great news. i only played 09 briefly before canning it but the demo is pretty good in my opinion in terms of features and overall gameplay. i just don't like how the movement feels. there's a lot of sliding and skating around and not much weight to the players. on the build you played, was this improved?

I hate to be a kill joy, but playing it a little more, my concern now is that once we get online and start playing ranked matches, and into our online dynasties, we are going to see more then a little bit of the 'same old EA'.

The game is a tremendous improvement vs the CPU. The CPU actually tries to compete, and people are going to lose games vs the CPU in online dynasty this year, and that is a good thing. Nothing was worse then padding your Win-Loss total against last years, garbage CPU...if you went .500 in your user vs user games, you were pretty much guaranteed at least a 8 win season, every year.

The problem for head to head play, is that many of the same old annoyances are still there.

1) I love that I can play as my DE /DTand not be vacuumed and sucked into blockers every snap..and I can effect the game. The RS moves feel waaay more responsive and fluid. Good improvement.

The problem? I'm the only one playing with any kind of aggresion. the rest of my DL teammates, are engaged in the same old patty-caking.

Yet another year of having to use 'jump the snap' on aggressive, in order to get the DL to play together, and with nastiness.

1a) It will also be yet another year of people being able to dance wide with the QB..due to lazy engagement by the DE's and no proper pass rush angles.

2) Im still seeing CB's giving an open, inside release in man coverage for slant, and drag routes.
--The programming and interaction hasnt changed here..its the same opld sloppy technique of just giving away the inside on these routes..regardless of the coverage scheme. This issue is masked somewhat by the QB's actually throwing errant, wayward passes on default settings, but the sloppy technique is still there.

3) completeing shallow passes underneath vs yellow zones is better then 09-10, but still s smidge too easy. At least, the defenders appear to be closing on them faster now..which is a good thing.

4) Pass pressure has no effect on passing accuracy. The QB can still deliver a perfect dart, with all kinds of pressure around him, and without having his feet set and shoulders square.

5) The CPU QB still freaks out on HB screens and gets killed.

I do give EA credit for making the CPu vs User experience a lot more fun, challenging, and engaging, howeverm there are still issues with a lot of the same problems which has made head to head play a pain in the neck at times.

It's a marked improvement to be sure, and I appreciate it, but I cannot put on blinders and pretend that old issues dont exist either.

I hope that's fair
1. I would agree with this. Obviously sliders can help this somewhat, by cutting down on the QB's time to throw, but your right the underlying defensive ai and interaction with the o-line still isn't very good.

2. Agreed with this as well.

3. Agree with this as well.

4. Agree partially because I have seen some errant throws with pressure just not on a consistent enough basis.

5. Half agree here. CPU seems very competent at throwing WR screens, but as you said they still freak out on RB screens for some reason at least on the ones I have seen.

Overall I agree, it's improvement just not blown away by it like some others are because like you said some of the underlying issues and problems are still there. They shouldn't be ignored because they still need to addressed at some point.

I thought you were very fair as well.

Re: NCAA Football 11 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here

Throwing the long bombs seemed more realistic, the Wr's are actually catching the ball en route/ running to the ball you, can also notice the match up differences pertaining to the speed of the players specifically cb/wr. Blocking looks and feels alot better.

Gameflow/Gameplan??? I don't really see major differences in the way my guys plays when adjusting the settings maybe its because the games are short?Regardless I am pretty impressed the graphics are starting to look dated but the overall gameplay so far looks good and will be a day 1 buy for me.

I would like to know this as well. I really don't like the sliding or skating feel in the movement of the players.

What I wonder is why is NCAA having so much trouble this gen replicating realistic looking movement when NCAA last gen had no problem in that area.
