Re: NCAA Football 11 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here

Finally, after all these years (Original Madden on sega genesis, 1989) i am kinda over EA football. EA Tiburon's football titles go through the same M.O. each and every year. MINOR improvements and tweaks to the same old game and engine(s).

They throw out catchy tech terms for their "features" ie; "Pro-tak", "Locomotion" etc. I mean, if you step back and look at it for what it is, they actually have to pump and tout gang tackles and realistic player movement? Shouldn't these things be in football titles on pretty powerful hardware by now, 2010?

It's not that the games are AWFUL, it's that they are just OLD and STALE. Tweaks and minor improvements aren't cutting it anymore, not for me. After playing this demo i cannot overcome the feeling of blandness. No exitement or juice, it doesn't grip me. I want to love these games badly, like i used to for many years. EA Tiburon just hasn't done anything with this generation of hardware. Even other EA Sports titles are flat out better. NHL, Fight Night, FIFA. Not to mention other sports games like sony's MLB the show. You see what other developers have done with this hardware (even non sports titles) and its depressing to think what Football COULD and SHOULD be by now.

EA will never give us a "new" football experience this generation. They will keep tweaking the existing game. That holds for a few weeks then after those tweaks wear off, its the same old game nuts and bolts.

UGH, that has upset me for the past 3 years. You throw a pass and it should be overthrown yet the WR magically speeds up and creates separation. It would have helped lessen Robo QB's completion % over the years. The warping on that is crazy and I don't see how more people aren't upset over it.

I'm very upset about it. I just stated that a couple of pages ago, it happens on all levels for both WRs and CBs and it is a huge cause for concern in my opinion.

Okay, quick question:

How do I make my player lean left or right? Is it from the right stick or the left stick?

You know, i just didn't see or feel any of that. This game still has the turbo button, whereas in Madden its off and everything is supposedly based off ratings ala NHL series.

When you go into game controls, whats weird is that certain buttons seemed to be "locked". Like under ball carrier controls, it gives you the button rundown, but underneath it says "locked features" with the right analog stick and its uses like UP for highlight/truck stick, DOWN for back juke etc.

Also, i couldn't seem to get the hit stick to work, and when i looked under controls for defensive pursuit, nowhere did it even mention the hit stick.

I dunno...
