Re: NCAA Football 11 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here

I only had time for a couple of games before work so I played Tex vs. OU and then Florida vs. FSU. Here's some random thoughts.

Running read options with Texas' 90 SPD QB was nice. Much more effective than with Brantly of FU. My success didn't seem to depend on me making the right read. I'd give it when I should've kept it and either get a big gain or stopped cold. I'd keep when I should've given and it could go either way.

On AA my pass rush with Tex was brutal. I ended up with 4 sacks (all CPU controlled players) in the game.

I played as a MLB for Texas. I didn't notice his ACC rating, but there was a very noticeable difference in how long it took him to get to full speed compared to players in NCAA '10. I LOVED this!!

Going against OU's no huddle was difficult to call my defensive plays in time.

I mainly dabbled with no huddle with Texas since I plan on running it with Michigan. After setting my gameplanning to aggressive (no huddle) I was surprised that I still had to hold "Y" after the play. I figured setting that to "no huddle" would cause my guys to go no huddle on their own.

Going no huddle caused my guys to get very tired quickly. They went from green -> yellow -> orange -> red and no one was auto subbed in. I'm hoping this is just in the demo as I really hope my guys will sub out when they get tired.

OU no huddled for 4 or 5 plays in a row. After an incompletion they came out with 1 QB, 1 TE, 2 WR, 2 CBs. I'm not sure how many WRs are on their depth chart, but it appears as if there's still the issue of the game using CBs when they run out of WRs on the depth chart, even if there's a 7th WR that's no on the chart.

I found a bubble screen in FSU's playbook. I looked through several FU formations and never found one.

QUESTION:
In gameplanning for tempo, it says that aggressive "no huddle" means that your players get tired easily. Did anyone try going no huddle without the gameplanning setting? Since I still had to hold "Y" after the play to go no huddle, I'm wondering what the no huddle setting actually does.

truck stick works differently this year. You will hold it forward and lean instead of punching it forward a bunch of time. If you hold the lean too long though, you will fall forward. One good addition this year is your runner no longer should lose speed when leaning or trucking like they did last year.

Oh yeah. For gameplanning, the negative of aggressive stripping is now more missed tackles instead of facemasks. I know this was a big complaint in '10.

3. Jury still out. Crossing routes still look a bit exploitable.

4. Not seeing any Robo QB. People are struggling against Mizzou but, if you call plays properly they can be handled pretty easily. Lots of incompletions. Some miss throws due to pressure, some flat out misses.

Great! Thanks fot that..I'll be looking to try out more when I get home.

I really hope this is the year when I can user control a DE/DT, have a good D based on LOS impact + personnel + play calling and not be absolutely forced to have to play one way: Yellow zone defender.

Interceptions = toned down. I have yet to see an interception that was a crazy super human jump, which is awesome. Any INTs I've seen so far are by CBs and Safeties. Looking good on that front.
