Re: NCAA Football 11 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here

From my post over at www.traditionfootball.com

Right out of the box: (I will keep editing my post as I play).

1. The opening scene in the demo is nice. Herbie overlay explaining new features.
2. The presentation is WAY better on game start.
3. The camera angle is lower...on kickoffs the speed on the field seems faster due to the angle.
4. There is a new play calling screen.
5. Right click defender lock is still in.
6. Graphically, far superior to '10.

In one defensive series, I saw a gang tackle (which was slightly bugged, the offensive player went down and the defenders stayed locked together, just an animation issue), then completely overran a sweep and couldn't cut back.

On the punt return, the camera rotated when I caught the ball...and completely screwed me up.

First offensive series, I torched the Miami defense for a touchdown (All-American). I threw an out route that was actually well covered, but the defender completely missed me and I went for pretty good yardage. A couple run's later by Boom Herron and I am in.

+ The blocking is MUCH better on offense (my initial impression)
+ The defense is much 'quicker', which I expected.
+ Run commit is toned WAY down (I used it on 1st and goal, result...picked 6 for the Buckeyes)
- Hopefully they tighten up players on defense interacting with the ball carrier...I feel like a couple guys didn't make a play when they should have. Maybe Heisman is better, or the animations/AI are still a work in progress?
/ Have seen receivers running into each other and 'hanging' a little bit.

Clemson's QB is completing a very low % against me. I can't see the stats but if I had to guess I'd say he's around 2-9 with a sack and a pick. On most of his pass plays he holds the ball for a long time and chunks it down field. He has put it away and ran a couple times but I've yet to see him get one out quickly.

CPU run game seems improved from what I've seen so far.

Re: NCAA Football 11 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here

I just observed the ratings and they still have only QBA and Power no short, medium or long like in Madden 10

That's a bummer but from what i can tell they did drop the speed ratings down most likely because that rating inflated the overall's last year a great deal.

The only down side they left the crazy high break tackle ratings in the game.

Agility ratings are close to what Madden 10 utilized not alot of guys in the 90's this year takes away that stop and turn on dime feel much better now.

Overall I can clearly tell the ratings are going to help the gameplay this year much better.

I love the formation subs because now you can utilize a faster guy when running the option at QB in certain packages or move guys around much better for example the Percy Harvin's, Rocket Ismail's, Reggie Bush types or take a stud CB like Champ Bailey or Deion Sanders and play him on offense in certain packages.................

Acceleration is the rating that is going to be key from what I observed after 2 games......and i noticed some guys might only have 88 speed but their acceleration coudl still make them game breakers in the open field.

I can't say for sure if the Offensive Linemen are better in blocking assignment becuase of the short qtr's......

But what I did notice is EA finally and I mean Finally BOOSTED UP THE Awareness ratings of the offensive linemen in the game Miami has like 4 starters rated 80 or higher in awareness

I've been complaining about that rating for the past 3 years making OL stupid because they never had any good awarness and EA finally gave them some LOVE this year

I still think they move too slow but maybe the game speed slider being included this year will help

I'm really liking the different offenses and the game feels and looks much better this IMO....Excellent job on the presentation aswell

This game already owns my soul

Damn, that sounds sweet. Imagine that, being able to run yourself out of a play instead of being able to stop/turn on a dime and make plays you have no business making. Can't wait to get home to download this!

Re: NCAA Football 11 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here

I just had a back in the flat wide open and as I progressed through my read I looked over and there was actually a defensive player running from his zone to cover him......was nice to see actually. instead of sitting in one spot....my only gripe graphically is depth of view stuff is wonky in some replays it blurs out the whole play and not just the background...also nice touch on telling me how far the FG is in play selection lol I hate doing my math. Flat coverage overall seems to be better. Im loving it now I have to goto bed hehe....
