In college, a lot of teams use Run & Shoot principles as part of their offense... like Air Raid, which, as Mike Leach himself has said, is part Run & Shoot, part West Coast.

Nobody had a bigger impact on the Run & Shoot than Mouse Davis, who first brought it to popularity and success at Portland State and then later, in the USFL with the Houston Gamblers and Denver Gold.

Since Davis it has been June Jones who has had the biggest impact on the offense. So when you say he is running the 'June Jones Version' of the offense that's like saying Bill Walsh is running 'Bill Walsh Version' of the West Coast.

SMU and Hawaii run the Run & Shoot exclusively right now. In 2009 SMU was # 12 in the country in red zone scoring, Hawaii was 119th. Which proves that Jones has a little more knowledge of the offense he has helped pioneer over the years. Perhaps you are referring to high school teams using the Run & Shoot or perhaps you could clarify what teams you are referring to. Because nobody knows this offense better than JJ and nobody runs it better or has had as much success.
You make my point for me in your statistics comparing SMU and Hawaii. No two offenses are the same and no one runs a "pure" form of any offense. Everyone has their variations.

Just because June Jones gets better results out of his version of the Run and Shoot doesn't make it a more pure form of the offense.

As for Bill Walsh and the West Coast offense. Coach Walsh came first and the style was labeled to him. He created, was, is the original West Coast offense.

June Jones enhanced the Run and Shoot and made it his own after someone else created it, developed it. Therefore, saying "Bill Walsh style of West Coast" is not the same as "June Jones style of Run and Shoot".

I'm not saying anything about any specific teams. I'm talking about the fact that the concept of the Run and Shoot is an offense that historically involved lots of motion by receivers. Sure, trips and other formations have been used to tip the defense's hand to show where the open receiver should be.

Anyways, at least you're agreeable that there are similarities between many of the passing offenses. Air Raid has R&S has West Coast, etc. In other words, these offenses have concepts and the way they are executed doesn't change whether they qualify as a certain style of offense.

For example, I can run a spread offense than uses zone blocking. Am I not good enough or pure enough to be called a zone running team because I don't follow the shadow of the purest zone run formations.

Keep in mind, we're not talking about formations, we're talking about philosophy. There are many ways to accomplish the philosophy that a R&S attempts to carry out. If a team uses motion or different formations from how the holy June Jones does, it doesn't make it any less Run and Shoot.

very impressed with what EA has done with ncaa this year, but one thing that bugs me is the attention to detail with the crowds...when you go to a clemson home game you cant turn around without seeing orange and 90% of the stadium is orange...in the game(according to the pics and of course previous ncaa's) maybe 30% is orange ...and its not just clemson its anybody really(and yes i know this is up there with the dreads issue)

WTF Mizzou? It's not like they have Chase Daniel anymore.
Arkansas and the best offense in the country should be in above Missouri. I'm betting Texas, Alabama, and Boise State get in too.

Hope this game has fixed some of the glitches with unstoppable money plays and RB's that have no weight so they can just juke and spin and juke and spin and juke and spin to 300 yard game's with 10 year old's at the wheel

All the demo teams so far had screen's released for them before they were announced officially. I saw a couple Ohio State and Miami shots from way before they were announced for the demo, if the trend stays, I think we're going to see Michigan vs. Arkansas soon...
